Harvey R. Barham, Jr.

September 5, 1969 — February 12, 2026

Richardson, Texas

Harvey R. Barham Jr., of Richardson, Texas, passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 56. He was born in Dallas, Texas to Ruth and Harvey R Barham Sr. on September 5, 1969. He was the youngest of two children, with his sister Lisa being 10 years his elder. Harvey spent his childhood and teen years in Duncanville, Texas, graduating from Duncanville High school in 1988. After graduation Harvey attended some college but found his ultimate career after starting his own successful home care business, Spirit Homecare, at the age of 25.

After a few successful years in his business, Harvey purchased a home in Cedar Hill, Texas. A few years later he met his soon-to-be wife, Jenny Rogers, and they were married on July 21, 2001. Harvey and Jenny made their home in Cedar Hill, where they welcomed their firstborn, Harvey Charles “Charlie” (b. 2005). The family later moved to the Dallas area, where their second child, Anna (b. 2007), was born.

Harvey served as the CEO of Spirit Homecare until 2020, when he transitioned into companion care services and assumed ownership of Ruth’s Choice in Home Care, later known as Spirit Home Care. The family eventually settled in Richardson, Texas.

Harvey was truly creative at heart; art flowed from him as naturally as breath. Gifted in many ways, he used his talents to express his thoughts and emotions. He had a unique voice, was musically gifted, played guitar and possessed an uncanny aptitude for words. Harvey could string words together effortlessly, producing work rich with depth and meaning. He loved poetry and literature and seamlessly created his own poems and short stories.

Writing music was his deepest creative joy. In 1995, he and his friend, Chris Cannon formed a band, Gentlemen Losers. Harvey wrote, sang and played guitar and together they recorded twelve releases, including albums, EPs and outtakes. He later released two solo albums, City of Champions and Lonely Dad’s Club, along with many singles.

Harvey passed down this love of music, singing, literature, writing and guitar to his children, who share his love for the arts and delight in literature, playing instruments, singing and writing. He wrote songs with his family, played music together with them, and composed individual songs for each member -treasures that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Many have said that Harvey was “one of the funniest people I have ever known”. He had the rare ability to bring levity to any situation, using humor to bring light, laughter and joy to his family, his friends and to the world around him.

Around 2017 God reached into Harvey’s life and miraculously changed him from the inside out. The lyrics of his music began to reflect the transforming work God was doing in his heart. In the years that followed, Harvey developed a deep passion for God, theology, the Reformation and Biblical study. He “washed himself in the Word” and was often found falling asleep to Scripture being read aloud or to faithful pastoral teachings. He had an unquenchable thirst for the Bible and a longing to understand the full story of God’s redemptive plan.

The Word of God and theology became his favorite subjects, frequently discussed with family, friends and anyone willing to listen. He was especially moved by God’s sovereignty over all things and by the truth that, though he was once dead in his sins, God chose him, forgave him, and redeemed him out of love.

Harvey brought delight to his family and to the world simply by being who God created him to be-an incredibly gifted artist, musician, wordsmith, comedian, loving father, loving husband and follower of Christ.

Ephesians 2:1-5

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked……But God being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved.”

Philippians 2:13

“For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jenny Barham, and their two children, Harvey Charles Barham “Charlie” and Anna Barham; sister and brother-in-law, Doug and Lisa Zirkle of Hayden, Colorado; aunt Annette Dunn and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey R. Barham Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth (Thomas) Barham.
