Harold Britton Graham

September 30, 1929 — October 21, 2024

Harold Britton Graham of Plano, Texas went to be with the Lord October 21, 2024, at the age of 95.  He was born September 30, 1929, to Louis and Annie (Britton) Graham in Bellmead, Texas.

Harold was a 1947 graduate of La Vega High School, where he played several sports and was a cheerleader. He married Lena Baker on July 30,1954, in Waco, Texas, and they were married for sixty-one years.  Harold started work at Higginbotham Company in Waco, and after his marriage to Lena they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, and Chicago, Illinois, where he was then working for Corn Products.

Harold and Lena moved to Dallas, Texas in 1963 and to Plano in 1976.  He worked for Frito-Lay for almost thirty years, including being a department manager in General Accounting and Payroll.  Harold retired in December 1991; later, he and Lena began a part-time role for the Dallas Chapter of the American Payroll Association and enjoyed the monthly luncheons seeing sweet friends until 2015.

Mr. Graham, as he often preferred to be called, was a lifelong member of the Methodist church where he helped with the youth group and taught an elementary Sunday School class. When Harold moved into the Conservatory in 2016, after Lena’s death, he immediately got involved in social activities and the community church, serving as their treasurer.

Harold loved watching all sports, but football was his favorite.  He had season tickets to sit under the Friday night lights watching the Plano Wildcats for several decades, and Harold loved watching college ball on Saturdays, and the NFL on Sundays, especially while cracking pecans for Lena to make his favorite pies. Harold was an avid golfer, and after his retirement spent his early mornings at the Pecan Hollow course in Plano with good friends and winning senior golfer of the year, twice.  Harold loved his family, a great meal that ended in dessert, talking about his grandchildren, and taking care of others.  His sharp mind and sense of humor truly kept him young at heart.

Harold is survived by his daughters, Debby Grinley of Canyon Lake, Texas, Vicki Musall and husband Edward of Plano, Texas and Valerie Phillips and husband Jason of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Chris Musall of Plano, Texas Britton Musall of San Angelo, Texas, Jackson Phillips of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Annabelle Phillips of Rogers, Arkansas, Bonnie Lewis of Moody, Texas, and Andy Jost of Waco, Texas. His surviving great-grandchildren are Sierra Commander of Canyon Lake, Texas, Robyn Jost Saylor of Portland, Oregon, Allyson Jost of Thorndale, Texas, Jordan Commander of Moody, Texas and Andrew Jost of Axtell, Texas. Harold is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lena, his daughter, Dolly Jost Bishop, his grandson, Robby Jost, his parents, Louis and Annie Graham, and his siblings: Louis Graham, Jr., Mary Elizabeth Cranfill, and Billy Gene Graham.

His celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023.
