Gregory (Greg) Trogstad

February 23, 1966 — April 25, 2019

Gregory Michael Trogstad was born in Mankato, Minnesota to Terry and Dawne (Fosburgh) Trogstad on February 23, 1966 and left his earthly body to be with the angels on April 25, 2019 at the age of 53. Gregory is now, as he was in life, an angel at heart.

Gregory was born in Mankato and moved to Rochester soon after birth. Gregory started his professional career in retail during his high school years at the national retailer K-mart. Greg graduated from Iowa City West High School in Iowa City, Iowa in 1984. While attending the University of Iowa, he was selected by K-mart to start their management training program, one of the youngest ever to be chosen. He progressed his career with K-mart for over 6 years and continued his professional career in several merchandising and management roles in various companies throughout the Midwest including Chicago, then wound up in Dallas in the spring of 1999; ultimately achieving retirement at the age of 50.

Gregory’s love and laughter was infectious. His ability to listen and to just be a friend was second to none. He made everyone feel so special. Greg was the very best life companion, adventure companion, and an all-around team player. Even if he really didn’t want to go, and he knew others did, he would shrug and go along… Unless it involved bungee jumping off of bridges or the possibility of swimming with Great White sharks. I guess we are all allowed our own limits. When we decided we were not going to adopt a child, we made a deal to see the world, and we did. All the beautiful locations and amazing adventures wouldn’t have been as beautiful if I hadn’t been alongside Greg. He helped me live life to the fullest. He received a block from his step mom Patty that said “Enjoy the Now”. This saying helped us calibrate our lives and we lived life on earth together to the fullest. I cannot wait to see him again to go on our next adventure together. "Until then my love".

Gregory is survived by his husband Jason Contreras; father Terry Trogstad and his wife Patty; siblings Chris Trogstad and his wife Dede, Chardon Wyatt and her husband Chris, Tricia Poulin and her husband Rick, Allen Fritts, Jr, Blaine Clark and his wife Mandy and Dawn Skillings and her husband Jeff; aunts and uncles Pat Cooley and her husband Jim, Carmen Munsen, Richard Fosburgh and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Dawne Trogstad, paternal grandparents Lester and Eldora Fosburgh, maternal grandparents Rowland and Thelma Fosburgh, uncle Max Fosburgh and sister in law Sharla Contreras Schooly.

A memorial service to celebrate Greg’s life will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at Allen Family Funeral Options. An additional celebration of life for Gregory will announced in the near future.

If desired, contributions may be made in Greg’s name to the Non Profit Breast Cancer Organization that he supported and was part of for 12+ years; Sharla Schooley’s Angel at: http://www.sharlasangels.us
