Gloria Anderson

October 6, 1937 — March 2, 2023

Gloria Hallin Anderson, age 85, of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023.  Gloria was a loving wife of 50 years; a devoted mother of 3 and a doting grandmother of 6.  She was an avid student and a committed educator.

Born October 6, 1937, Gloria grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  She graduated Saint Margaret’s Academy, attended community college for two years and then graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in education.  She began her teaching career immediately after graduation at Farmington High School.  During these formative years, Gloria participated in many beauty pageants and earned several titles including Miss East Minneapolis and Miss Minneapolis.  She was first runner up to Miss Minnesota.  Gloria married L.L. (Andy) Anderson on August 13, 1960, in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, in Minneapolis, MN.  They were married 50 years.  Gloria and Andy lived in Minnesota, Florida, and Texas where she continued to teach English, Speech, and Theater.  Gloria earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree from Southern Methodist University in August 1986.  She later completed the Dyslexia Therapist Training Program from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in June of 1990.  Gloria retired from teaching after 30+ years in the classroom.

Gloria loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother.  She and Andy enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling and entertaining.  She was proud of her kids and her six grandchildren.  She made every effort to spend time with them and encourage them in anything they did.  She also loved dogs.  Gloria had a memorable laugh that could fill a room.  Gloria liked to watch sports especially college football and golf.  After she retired from teaching, Gloria played golf most Wednesdays with “the golf girls.”  She lived her life to the fullest and was a women of faith until the day she died.

Gloria is survived by her children Kirk (and Lisa) Anderson and their children, Travis and Clayton.  Cara (and Timothy) Nunan and their children, Scott and Callie; and Lance (and Jill) Anderson and their children, Garron and Dalton.  She is also survived by her nieces Christine Draughn and Laura Mumber and nephew Timothy Hallin.  Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, L.L. (Andy) Anderson; Her parents, Amelia B. Krezowski and Harold O. Hallin and her brother, H. Thomas Hallin.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Dr. Plano, Texas 75075.  Inurnment immediately following at St. Mark’s Columbarium.
