George (Bobby) Andrew Wells was born on February 21, 1933, in Winchester, Kentucky to parents Cash and Zona Wells. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Winchester High School where he played both football and basketball. After graduation, he served in the National Guard of Kentucky and joined the Army where he was stationed in Frankfurt Germany. After his tour of duty, he attended Georgetown College where he played football and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
He married the love of his life, Noreta Collins on August 30th, 1958. Shortly thereafter, he began working for Delta Airlines and retired after almost 33 years. George, also known as Uncle Bobby and Daddy-George to his family was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. He moved to McKinney in 2015 where he was an active member of the Allen Sunrise Rotary Club and the American Legion. George was a man of few words but always kind and loving to all he met.
George enjoyed many hobbies over the years including cooking, grilling, home improvement projects, traveling, photography and gardening. He won yard of the month countless times due to his beautiful rose gardens.
George is survived by his daughter, Toni Brown and her husband Jim, and extended family including Jimmy and Mary Wells, Jim Brown and Max Auge, David and Kim Broussard, Derek and Rachael Brown, Klay and Audrey Byrd, Grant Betz, Jacob, Seth and Eden Brown, Jason and Fay Wells, Matt Wells, Will Wells, Tyler Wells, Jake and Julia Allen, Elliott and Madalyn Hale, Cody and Alisha Wells and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Cash and Zona Wells, his wife, Noreta Wells and his brother, James Wells.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Christ Church Plano, 4550 Legacy Drive, Plano, Texas.
There will be a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to Christ Church Plano.
