George Calhoun

May 1, 2003 — July 15, 2024

George Edward Calhoun — musician, philosopher, and perpetual student of life — left this world at the tender age of 21 on Monday, July 15, 2024. He is survived by his father, Andrew Pickens Calhoun, III; mother, Julie Calhoun; and older brother, Andrew Pickens Calhoun, IV, along with an abundance of aunts, uncles and cousins, who will forever hold their brilliantly colorful memories of him in their hearts. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the remarkably beautiful soul that George was and the timeless lessons he imparted to us all.

Throughout his brief time on Earth, George's insatiable thirst for knowledge brought profound wisdom and teachings to virtually everyone he encountered. From his earliest moments learning to navigate modern language, he absorbed the beliefs of all religions — taking the good from each denomination, sharing these messages with those he loved, and weaving them together into the very fabric of his being.

A uniquely talented musician, George had a profound understanding of music theory, turning every note into a soulful expression of his innermost feelings. Each and every note emanating from his hands was a testament to his love and dedication to the art of self expression through sound.

Nature was his sanctuary. George often took walks under the night sky (so as to not disturb a single soul), marveling at the wonders of the natural world. He would stop to observe every tiny bug, every rustling leaf, solemnly sharing stories of the creatures he encountered. His gentle reminder, "Why are you walking so fast? That's not what a walk is!" taught us to slow down and appreciate the beauty in every moment.

George leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and a profound appreciation for the simple wonders of this planet. Though his time with us was short, his impact was immeasurable. He taught us to seek truth, cherish nature, embrace minimalism, and live each moment to its fullest.

Rest in peace, dear George. Your journey is endless in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved you. The friends who have come by to share stories and send their blessings is a testament to your impact.
