Gary Lee Coffman

June 4, 1941 — April 1, 2025

“The days of our years are three score years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years,
yet is their strength, labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Psalms 92:10

Gary Lee Coffman, age 83, passed away on April 1, 2025, leaving a lifetime of love, laughter, and legendary
tales that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was the older brother of 2 sisters, Carmen Finney
(husband Steve) and Reta Harris. Born on June 4, 1941, Gary was a true original—equal parts cowboy,
jokester, caretaker, storyteller, and horse wrangler.

In 1969, Gary married the love of his life, Sherry Kay Stevens, in Sargent Nebraska. The two of them built a
life rooted in love and family, eventually moving to Frisco Texas, on Father’s Day weekend in 1983. There
Gary took a job as a ranch hand at the Cloyce Box Ranch, and over the years, his hard- working spirit saw
him through several roles—delivering lumber for Frisco Wholesale and later driving medical units, including
MRI and PET trailers to many areas and out of state hospitals.

Gary had a larger-than-life personality, and his sense of humor was legendary. From the time he and his
blood brother Danny White decided at age 13 to take a semi-truck for a joyride, to his daily antics and quick
wit, Gary was always in the middle of a good story—or starting one.

More than anything, Gary loved being a dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He was always there—offering
childcare, school drop-offs, and pick-ups for his two youngest grandchildren and their friends, and proudly
wearing the title of “favorite great-grandpa”.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sherry Coffman; his children, Valerie Coffman of Texas,
Brigette Coffman of Oregon, Trevor Coffman (boyfriend Brad Smith), Kelly Coffman, and Jodi Morrison
(husband Dennis Morrison) all of Texas. He is also remembered lovingly by his grandchildren: Micheal
Hanks (wife Ashley), Jennifer Hanks, Matthew Coffman (girlfriend Amanda), Cheyenne Barton-Coffman,
Emma Morrison (boyfriend Bryson), Ethan Morrison (girlfriend Cloe), and Sarah Griff.
Gary’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Andrew, Gracelyn, and Avery; Zane and Molly; and
Tyler, Dylan, and Lylah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Valene Coffman; his in-laws, Clifford and Carol Stevens.
sister, Janet Joyce; son, Gary Lee, Jr; grandson, Elliott; great-grandson, Andrew; and brothers-in-law, Fred
Olsen and Don Roberts, as well as son-in-law, Kerry Barton.

Gary’s life was a beautiful blend of hard work, hearty laughter, unforgettable stories, and boundless love. He
will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
