Gary Wayne Bell, 72, of Plano, Texas, went to be with his Savior on March 29, 2026.
He was born on September 26, 1953, in Dallas, Texas. He was the eldest son of Victor and Betty (Baker) Bell and brother to Jimmy Bell and Karla Silvas.
Gary had a heart of gold and was a friend to all. He had a strong faith and was a devoted Christian. This amazing man lived a full, happy, meaningful life. Gary graduated from DeSoto High School and received his bachelor’s degree at Dallas Baptist University. He met his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Ann Bell, in 1979 and they were married in 1981. Gary and Ann had 2 children, Hunter Bell and Lauren Velis. Gary was a devoted and supportive father. Always involved in team sports and school activities.
Gary worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T and later worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield. He chose to finally retire after over 40 years in the workforce.
In retirement, Gary enjoyed more time doing the things he loved. He and Ann began to travel more and bought an RV to begin their camping adventures. Many of these trips involved heading to the Florida beaches with his family and dear friends or on a cruise. When Gary wasn’t planning his next vacation he enjoyed tinkering in his garage, woodworking, and finding any excuse to “fix” something in the house. He took great pride in his yard and enjoyed gardening.
Gary is survived by his wife Sandra Ann Bell; son Hunter Bell, daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Billy Velis; his 2 grandchildren Christopher and Emily; sister and brother-in-law Karla and Hector Silvas; nieces and nephews Jon Spradlin, Kelli Bell, Lesli Bell, and Austin Silvas. Also included and loved are his cousins and great nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral service to celebrate Gary’s life at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7th, 2026. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9-10:00 a.m., at Allen Family Funeral Options.
Gary will be laid to rest at Little Bethel Memorial Park Cemetery, Duncanville, Texas.
