Frank J. Kozel, Jr., a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away on April 1, 2026 in Richardson, Texas at the age of 80. Frank was born July 1, 1945, to Frank and Anna Mae Kozel in Cleveland, Ohio.
While growing up in Cleveland, Frank attended Saint Benedict’s Grade School and Benedictine Catholic High School. For his undergraduate degree Frank attended Ohio University and obtained a Business Degree. He then went on to earn an MBA from the University of Cincinnati.
Immediately following undergraduate school, Frank joined the US Navy. He took great pride in his military career with 20 years of service with both active and reserve duty. Frank retired from the Navy with the rank of Full Commander.
Frank began his career in the telecommunications industry and was one of the early employees of MCI Telecommunications. He was known as a great mentor, leader and well-respected colleague in the industry. He was a great contributor to the establishment of the city’s Telecom Corridor. After retiring from the tech industry, Frank spent many years as part owner of the pizza focused company, Perky’s Foodservice Concepts.
Frank was also great supporter of the arts and a longtime friend of the Richardson Symphony. He volunteered with the Richardson Symphony for many years. Frank was also a lover of travel, reading, music and history.
Frank’s Catholic faith was a core part of his life. He had a quiet strength and religious devotion as a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas.
Above all, Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and was a devoted family man.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Diane; his daughter Anne Reilley (Perren); his son Frank Jeffrey Kozel and his Grandson Brogan Reilley. He will be remembered with great love and missed deeply by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 2-4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Allen Family Funeral Options.
There will be a rosary at 9:55 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Church, with a mass to follow at 10:30 a.m.
Frank will be laid to rest with military honors at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery.
