Frank Glover

January 25, 1941 — January 28, 2024

James Franklin Glover was born into this world on January 25th, 1941, in Ashland, Oklahoma. He left this world on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the age of 83.

Frank (as his family and friends called him) was born at home to his loving parents, Nina and James Glover. Soon enough, he was gifted with two wonderful younger sisters, Donna and Sherry.

Especially in his later years, Frank enjoyed telling the story about the time he and his family moved from McAllister, Oklahoma, to Greenville, Texas. They came by train when he was about 5 years old. He said he was more than disappointed as they crossed the Red River when he did not see cowboys riding horses everywhere. He was very upset that Texas did not live up to his wild west expectations.

It was in Greenville at church where he met his future wife, Judy Cheryl Duvall. Their families attended the same church together and Frank became good friends with her older brothers, James and John. Judy was three years younger and probably not always welcome to run around with them as the baby sister. But eventually as they all grew older, Frank could not resist her with her pretty red hair and cute freckles. They fell in love and Frank married Judy in Greenville on October 26, 1963. Frank and Judy grew their family by two with the births of their daughter Ginger in 1966 and their son Casey in 1974. During those years they relocated to Plano, Texas, and Frank worked full time while also obtaining his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from East Texas State University.

Frank could never sit still. Ever. Over the years, he enjoyed playing golf and running. He then took up arrowhead and fossil hunting all around Texas. This eventually phased into his love of hiking mountains at Big Bend National and State Parks, the Guadalupe Mountains, crossing the Grand Canyon multiple times, and hiking several 14’ers in Colorado. Once his knees began to give out, Frank purchased his first road bicycle and discovered his love of riding. He participated in three RAGBRAI rides across the state of Iowa, several annual Bike Tour of Colorado rides, and more rides than we could ever count with his friends around the state of Texas. We hope his friends Mohammad, Steve, Russ, Allan, and so many others know how much he enjoyed his times with them. He also enjoyed woodworking and creating gifts for family, friends, and neighbors.

But Frank’s most prized possession was his family. He would never have navigated life as successfully as he did without his wife, Judy. They were the very definition of life partners, and she supported every single one of his adventures, including parachuting out of an airplane with him. He could not have asked for a better wife to love and share every day of their 56 years of marriage. He worked hard his entire adult life to provide a good home for Judy, Ginger, and Casey. And when Ginger and Casey each married and they and their spouses brought four very special grandchildren into the world, Frank bragged about them every chance he could. All four of his grandchildren, Gavin, Kegan, Katherine, and Rachel, always gave him much joy.

When Judy left this world more than four years ago, Frank told his children that she was the “center of our family”, and he was right. He missed her every day after she was gone but his family would like everyone to know that on Sunday, January 28th, he was reunited with her in Heaven, and that is where we find the most comfort.

Frank is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Kevin Rutledge of Amarillo, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Irene Glover of Plano, Texas; his grandchildren Gavin Rutledge, Kegan Rutledge, Katherine Glover, and Rachel Glover; his sister Donna Stigall of Anna, Texas; his sister and brother-in-law Sherry and Richard Grice of Mesquite, Texas; his sister-in-law Carol Duvall of Arlington, Texas; and several nieces and nephews who we hope have at least one good story to tell about their Uncle Frank. Frank was preceded in death by his father James, his mother Nina, and his precious wife Judy, who passed away in 2019. He was also preceded in death by his wife’s parents, James and Oneta Duvall; brothers-in-law, Calvin Stigall, James Duvall, and John Duvall; and his sisters-in-law Nelda Woodham, Frankie Burns, and Carole Ann Duvall.
