Frank G Ziebell, Jr.

April 4, 1942 — January 16, 2022

Frank G Ziebell, Jr. was born April 4, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio to parents Frank G Ziebell, Sr. and Ella (Trimble) Ziebell and he grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He graduated from Anderson High School and attended the University of Cincinnati. In 1962 he joined his father in the apparel business representing Harold J. Lehman. He moved to Dallas in 1964 and took over the Southwest Territory for the company. Frank continued in the apparel industry until his passing.

Frank held leadership positions in many organizations. He served as the president of the Richardson Jaycees and the Texas Jaycees. In 1976 he was elected the 57th president of the United States Jaycees in an election that took twenty-nine ballots and twenty-five and a half hours. As US Jaycee president he visited & spoke in all fifty states promoting the Jaycees. He then continued his Jaycee career through Jaycees International and served as their Legal Counsel in 1978. In 1979 he received the JCI One World Award as the outstanding member of Jaycees International. Most importantly, Frank & Edie made lifetime friends through their Jaycee experience as exhibited by their COMATOSE friends…a group of 7 couples that vacationed together every year for 32 years.

Professionally he was involved with the Bureau of Wholesale Sales Representatives and served in Dallas with both the American Fashion Association (AFA) and the United Southwest Children’s Organization (USCO). He was instrumental in the passing of the Salesmen Protection Law in Texas in 1987. He was elected and served a 2-year term as President of the Bureau of Wholesale Sales Representatives with the priority of lobbying for the causes of sales representative.

Family was very important to Frank. His wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews all knew of his love for them. He would travel hundreds of miles to attend life milestone events, attend a ballgame, or simply spend time together. He would spend hours preparing meals and planning the agenda. Frank has given his family his heart and no one will ever be able to fill the hole his absence has left.

As a lover of all things food, he created many “events” around food. He & Edie hosted numerous “Crawfish Boils,” Super Bowl parties, New Year’s Eve parties and charity golf tournaments. He was known for his “F & Z Great Texas Barbecue Sauce” and was famous for the brisket sandwiches & Caesar Salad served to his customers at the World Trade Center. Frank was a member of the Plano Wild Cat Community and Frank & Edie were also members of a Supper Club for over 40 years.

Frank was an avid golfer & had two holes in one. He enjoyed hunting. He loved to sail and was able to take multiple bareboat sailing trips in the British Virgin Islands and other Caribbean islands as well as the Kingdom of Tonga. He loved the Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, the Mavericks & Jordan Spieth. And he was a Proud Texan!

Frank was a collector of friends. Once you became his friend it was a lifelong commitment. The adage “it’s not what you say to someone, it’s the way you make them feel” was so true with him. He made you feel important. This included all those special nieces & nephews, those many customers through the years, and those sales reps he bossed around. His friends will never forget him.

Frank lived a remarkable life, was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Edie Ziebell; children Nancy M DeVore and her husband Will J DeVore, III, Frank G Zeibell III and his wife Elizabeth, Zachary J Ziebell and his wife Jennifer and Diane Heidt; grandchildren Sarah Sunderman and her husband Joseph, William J DeVore IV and his wife Alicia, Andrew Ziebell and Andrea Heidt; great granddaughter Edith Margaret Sunderman;  brother Gregory Ziebell ; sister Theresa Roys; mother in law Eunice Will.  He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Margaret Grayson, brother Michael Ziebell and son Donald Heidt.
