Floyd W. Neill, 85, passed away peacefully Monday, February 24, 2025, in Plano, Texas. Floyd was born August 9, 1939, in Robstown, Texas to Ira and Mildred Neill. He spent his childhood years in Corpus Christi, Texas, New Braunfels, Texas, and South America where his father worked in the oil fields.
After graduating from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Floyd served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for two years. He then attended college at Delmar and Texas A&I University studying engineering and playing football.
Floyd eventually moved to Dallas and married and had two children, Scott and Craig. On March 26, 1982, he married Rita K. Karr in Richardson, Texas and shortly thereafter they moved to Plano where they shared the remainder of his life.
Floyd spent much of his career working at Texas Instruments. After 17 years he retired in 2001 and then set out to enjoy his retirement. He loved watching old movies on TV, listening to country western music, watching football (especially the Dallas Cowboys) and traveling with Rita on cruises and attending his grandchildren’s performances and sporting events.
Floyd was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Plano and was a member of the Forum Sunday School class. Both he and Rita enjoyed serving their church as greeters for many years.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Mildred Neill and his sister, Jeanette. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Rita; his son Scott and wife Stephanie and their children Spencer, Preston, Addison and Emily of Flower Mound, Texas; and his son Craig and wife Beth and their children Carly and Abby of New Braunfels, Texas.
A private inurnment service is being planned for March 15 at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano.
