Fernando Laclette Sr.

Fernando Laclette Sr. of Richardson, Texas passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2026, surrounded by the Love of his family. He devoted his life to family, joy, and service to the community. Fernando Laclette was born on October 23, 1942, in Monterrey, Mexico to Fernando and Petra Laclette.

As a young man he grew up in Monterrey and Celaya, Mexico followed by Rockford, Illinois and Los Angeles, California. He married Carmen San Roman in 1967 and together they started the foundation of a strong, unified, and loving family. Their 3 children were born in Southern California. Fernando in 1968, Alejandro “Alex” in 1969 and Michelle in 1972.

He worked for Rockwell International in California as a Senior Manager and Engineer before relocating the family to Richardson, Texas in 1979 where he continued his work with Rockwell/Collins Radio. During his time as an Engineer at Rockwell in Richardson, he founded the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers). He became a mentor to young Engineers across the DFW Metroplex. The DFW SHPE Chapter created The Gutierrez-Laclette Engineering Development Apprentice (GLEDA) Scholarship in recognition of Fernando Laclette’s contributions and tireless work to the Hispanic Engineering community. Fernando was also a DFW Toastmaster International Leader, served on the board of the Dallas Classical Guitar Society and was a founding member of GID.

Fernando is survived by his wife of 16 year, Susana Laclette; sons Fernando Lacette, Alejandro “Alex” Laclette and daughter Michelle Degan; grandchildren Mackenzie Degan, Andrew Degan and Ashley Laclette; Son and Daughter in-law Christopher Degan and Katie Laclette. Fernando was preceded by his wife of 40 years, Carmen Laclette, his sisters Mercedes Laclette-Wagner and Teresa Laclette.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Plano, Texas followed by the committal of ashes at 3:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all their acts of kindness, love, and sympathy.
