Erwin Charles Maurer, Jr., age 93, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Lima, Ohio died November 4, 2018. He was born in Lima, Ohio May 29, 1925 to Erwin Charles Maurer, Sr. and Bernice Bruns Maurer, who preceded him in death.
Erwin, affectionately called Junie in Lima and E.C. in Texas, worked in the Oil Industry for over 55 years. He retired from the then Lima Sohio Refinery in 1980 and relocated to Plano Texas working for Ford, Bacon and Davis Construction Company, TPA and Lexington Group International, officially retiring in 2004. Erwin joined the Navy Seabees at the age of 17 in 1943 and served in the South Pacific during World War II until 1945. Erwin was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano, Texas. He was a graduate of St. Rose Catholic High School, Lima, Ohio, was active with his children in Junior Achievement and little league football, baseball and basketball. Erwin enjoyed golfing and spending time on the golf course marshalling. He loved his children, step-children and grandchildren.
Erwin is survived by his loving wife Jo Ann Gleason Maurer; four daughters Judy Wooten and her husband Terry of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jane Maurer of Lima, Ohio, Sue Freuh and her husband Steve of Lima, Ohio, Joan Kabara and her husband Rick of Waynesfield, Ohio and son John Maurer of Perrysburg, Ohio. Also surviving are two step daughters Jodie Kuberski and her husband Brian of Frisco, Texas and Sara Watkins of McKinney, Texas, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and brother Gene Maurer of Findlay, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a brother Bob Maurer, an infant sister and sister in law Shirley Maurer.
Per Erwin’s request there will not be a visitation or memorial service. He will be laid to rest Friday, November 16, 2018 at 12:30 P.M. with military honors at Dallas Ft Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas.
