Eric Raymond Meyer III, 67, of Allen, Texas passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born June 5, 1958, in Rapid City, South Dakota to the late Eric R. Meyer and Fern Elaine (Birkeland) Meyer.
Eric’s early years were marked by frequent moves across Iowa, Minnesota and Florida, experiences that shaped his resilience and independence from a young age.
At age 16, while attending Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida, Eric began working full time to support himself and his family. Despite many challenges he continued to pursue advanced coursework, demonstrating both determination and a natural aptitude for learning. It was during a summer computer course that Eric discovered a passion that would define his life.
After graduating Eric attended University of Central Florida until financial realities forced him to step away. Undeterred, he began his career in computing, first partnering in a small business before taking on contract work in Rochester, New York. What was intended to be a short-term assignment ended up being the start of a long and accomplished career in technology.
Over time, Eric worked across multiple industries, including banking and imaging, contributing his expertise to companies such as Bausch & Lomb, and Kodak. He later joined one of his favorite places; Target Vision, where he rewrote their software as the primary developer and designer of their products for many years. His work helped shape the company’s success through multiple transactions, including acquisitions that brought him and his family to Plano, Texas where he continued his career for 30 more years.
In 1993, Eric started a long-distance phone relationship with the love of his life Shelley (Myers) Meyer, Martinsville, Indiana. After six months they finally met face to face in New York, where Eric proposed marriage that first night. They wed in October 1994 and shared almost 33 years together. They were blessed to have a son Riley E. Meyer of Allen, Texas, who survives.
Eric remained active in his field until his retirement in December 2025, closing out his career that spanned more than 40 years. He valued connections, loyalty, and the people he loved. He will be remembered for the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
Other family members include siblings Patricia (Troy) Agee, of Tennessee and David (Sheri) Meyer of Edgewater Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.
Although there will be no funeral service, there will be a celebration of Eric’s life at a later date.
