Emily was born on October 14th, 1979 in Midland, Texas to parents Brian and Mary (Brown) Burleson. She grew up in a small, loving family with one sister, one dog and one cat. At the University of Oklahoma, Emily pursued her dream of becoming a teacher and graduated with a BA in elementary education in 2002.
Emily married her college sweetheart, Shanon Walker two weeks after graduation. They lived in Plano, Texas, where Emily taught kindergarten and first grade until she became a mother. Emily was a voracious reader and avid DIY’er. She later discovered her entrepreneurial side and set up several small businesses. Their family life was full of love, activity, and soccer tournaments. When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, Emily became dedicated to treatment in order to raise her children for as long as possible. She was a kind, strong and brave person with a beautiful smile.
