Frances Ellen Cluck was born May 16, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to parents George Coleman and Marie Catherine (Guest) Boylson. She has always been best known as Ellen. She went to be with her Lord on January 9, 2018 in Allen, Texas.
Ellen was raised in Texas along with her 9 sisters and 4 brothers. She was the eighth in line, and enjoyed spending time with her older siblings and being in charge of the younger ones.
In 1957 she met Jimmy Cluck, and they were married in 1959. Jimmy introduced her to Navy life and that took them away from Texas to California, Idaho, and Virginia. Wanting to start a family, and to be near extended family, they moved back to Texas after Jimmy’s service was complete. Business careers, and their early retirement, kept them in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. During that time, they had their daughter Cathy and adopted their son Douglas.
Ellen loved being Grandma to her 4 Grandchildren, Andrew, Alec, Austin and Cheyenne. She watched them do things such as graduate high school, join the Army, join the Air Force, become a police officer, become a black belt, sing in choir, grow up, and start families of their own. Recently she found room in her heart for her 5 Great Grandchildren: Nikki, Rylie, Oliver, Oliva and Silas. They were a great joy for her.
Not only did she spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren but she had a soft spot for any child. She spent time as a childcare provider, but she did not need to be employed by anyone to take care of any child she happened upon.
Ellen stayed active at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and each Catholic parish where she lived. For the past 22 years, she was active at St. Elizabeth’s as a member of the Rosary Cenacle, RCIA sponsor, Eucharistic Minister and assisted with church linens. Church was always a big part of her life.
She had many friends that she cared deeply for and that cared deeply for her. She made friends wherever she lived, or in whatever she was doing. Her infectious smile seemed to impact all of those around her. And everyone knew that distinctive laugh of hers.
Ellen surely had the heart of a servant. She spent countless hours of her life serving those around her. Whether it was friends, family or through the church she was ready to help. When she heard of a need her first reaction was always “How can I help?”, even if it was a time in her life when she had little. She imparted words of wisdom to her children such as “No matter what our situation may be, there are always those less fortunate so don’t complain”.
Ellen is survived by her daughter Cathy Brown of Plano, Texas, son Doug Cluck and his wife Victoria of Castle Rock, Colorado, grandchildren Andrew Harris of Las Vegas, Nevada, Alec and Ashley Cluck of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Austin and Amanda Cluck of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Cheyenne Cluck of Castle Rock, Colorado, great grandchildren Nikki, Rylie, Oliver, Oliva and Silas Cluck and Honey the family dog, siblings Mary Catherine Colonesse of Dallas, Texas, Georgia Wheelwright of Irving, Texas, Rosalie Hokamp of North Miami, Florida, Doris Holtz of Phoenix, Arizona, George Boylson of Irving, Texas, Marie St. Denis of Irving, Texas, Christine Grant and her husband Ronnie of Irving, Texas Paula Walters of Irving, Texas, Brendan Boylson and his wife Janis Irving, Texas, Michael Boylson and his wife Linda of Irving, Texas, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Mary Cluck of Phoenix, Ann Cluck of Ft.
