Elizabeth “Bitsy” Nell Geary Dowdle was born September 12,1946, in Houston, Texas and passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, surrounded by family and dear friends. Raised in Houston, she graduated from Lamar State College of Technology (now Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas) in 1969.
She moved to the Dallas area after graduation and spent most of her career in facilities and operations management at several organizations before retiring from Dallas Chapter 13 after 18 years in 2013.
Bitsy’s life was a testament of determination, passion, and a profound commitment to making the world a better place. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life filled with remarkable accomplishments and meaningful contributions. Bitsy was always known for her infectious optimism and unyielding desire to make a difference. Beyond the accolades and recognitions in her career, Bitsy’s true legacy lives on in the countless lives touched by her kindness, wisdom, strength, generosity and unwavering dedication to loved ones. Family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers were drawn to Bitsy’s authenticity and warmth. She had a unique ability to make each person feel seen, valued, and loved.
Bitsy enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends, golfing, sewing beautiful clothes and purses among many other things, arts and crafts, painting amazing pictures and bingo nights with her sister, Annie…of course especially if they had won! Bitsy was also a savvy shopper, both in person and online finding the perfect item, usually at a bargain.
She is survived by her brother William R. Geary, Jr. (Connie) of Fairfax Virginia, sister Annie McGraw (John, deceased) of McKinney, Texas, nieces Mary McGraw of McKinney, Texas, Patricia McGraw Stockrahm (Michael) of South Bend, Indiana, Charlotte Geary Prichard (Michael) of Reston, Virginia, nephews William McGraw (Kathleen) of Hoboken, New Jersey, Paul Geary (Molly) of Arlington, Virginia, 11 grand nieces and nephews, and her very special chosen family of daughter Lisa Lynn and grandchildren Gretchen Stalnaker and Zeke Stalnaker, all of Colleyville, Texas, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William R. Geary Sr. and Annie Kennedy Geary Thompson and stepfather Norman Thompson.
