Eliane Haron Vidal died peacefully, in the presence of her sons at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas in Dallas, TX on November 29, 2020. The cause of death was complications related to cancer. She was 65 years old.
Eliane was born in São Paulo, SP, Brazil, the second of three children of Antonio Haron and Leonice Sadi. She graduated with a Medical Degree (MD) from the Universidade de São Paulo, the country’s leading medical school, before completing her residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital das Clínicas in São Paulo. Hoping to specialize in Infectious Diseases, she trained at the University of Toronto on a scholarship before completing her fellowship at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. Eliane worked as an Infectious Disease specialist in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for 30 years saving thousands of lives and enriching countless others. She also worked in Public Health and Infection Control in an attempt to combat nosocomial infections. She loved her profession, and the detailed nature of her work. She took pride in writing thorough medical notes for her fellow physicians, a skill her colleagues always admired.
Eliane and Jose raised two children in Dallas. Eliane enjoyed vacations every year including trips to Florida, Mexico, Argentina, and Portugal, as well as visiting São Paulo frequently to spend time with her parents and her sisters.
Eliane was a daughter, a sister, a mother, and a wife. She always put family first, and she lived for her two sons Alex and Gabriel. Eliane will be sorely missed by many for her self-awareness, her sharp mind, her authenticity, her humor, and her enviable tact with her colleagues, patients, family, and friends.
