Edward Lowe Mcclelland

July 22, 1936 — May 19, 2022

Beloved husband and father, Edward Lowe McClelland was called home on May 19, 2022, at the age of 85. Born July 22, 1936 to Donovan C. and Cora Lynn McClelland in Rockford, Illinois.

A 1954 graduate of Rockford High School, Edward then graduated from Purdue University (Delta Chi) in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He later served in the USAF (Captain) and was stationed in Roses, Spain. Edward earned a Master of Business Administration and Doctorate in Agricultural Economics from the University of Florida and his thesis on “Optimal Allocation of Generic Advertising Budgets” is still used by economists today. In 1969, he began working for the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas, Texas and shortly thereafter met Sharon Lee Potter and they married in 1971. He worked as an economist, consultant and professor until his death.

Edward was a very curious and mischievous child, which often got him and his brother into trouble. The McClelland family motto is “Think On!” and was very appropriate for his engineering mind. Edward was passionate about genealogy and loved fixing things, gardening, birds and Civil War history. He could be found cheering for his daughters and granddaughters at their basketball and volleyball games and swim meets. He was a long-time member of Stonebriar Community Church. Edward loved to read the Bible and had a strong faith in God.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sharon, daughter Martha Elizabeth Murphy and her husband Jason and their daughters Landry Lynnlee and Makenzie Cassie, daughter Katherine Lynn Glenn and her husband Timothy, sister-in-law Anna Katherine McClelland, nephew John
McClelland, niece Sarah McClelland, great-nephews Donovan and Connor and numerous cousins. Predeceased by his parents and brother David C. McClelland.
