Dr. Jo Ann Cain Priest Botts

Jo Ann Botts, age 83, of Plano, Texas passed away on May 2, 2024. She was born Jo Ann Cain on June 14, 1940, in Bossier City, Louisiana to William Tell Cain and Aimmie McGeehee Cain.

Jo Ann married Robert H. (Bob) Botts in 1998, and together they raised Brett and Brandon Botts. She graduated from Bossier High School and later received “The Hall of Fame Award” in 2013 and holds the key to the city of Bossier City, Louisiana. Jo Ann graduated from Louisiana College with a BS degree, followed by her master’s and her Doctoral degree from Texas A&M.

Jo Ann has served on many boards from the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation Council to the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation, Leadership Texas and even served as a missionary in Kingston, Jamaica. These are only samples of the many accolades of her generous heart. We could go around the world twice naming all of them.

How extraordinary an ordinary life can be. She was a teacher at Shepard Elementary, principal at Sailing Elementary, Huffman Elementary, Brinker Elementary and Director of Personnel, all for PISD.

Jo Ann was dearly loved by all and will be deeply missed by those who were closest to her.

She is survived by her husband Robert H Botts; daughter Carl Ann (Carnie) Carpenter and her husband N. Scott Carpenter; grandson Colby Cain Carpenter and his wife Ashleydrew and their daughter Collins Cate Carpenter; granddaughter Caroline Claire Carpenter Biciolis and her husband TJ Biciolis, and their son Thomas Joseph (Tripp) Biciolis III; sons Brandon Botts, Brett Botts and his wife Jamie and their son Hudson Robert Botts. Jo Ann is preceded in death by her first husband Carl Benjamin Priest along with her parents and siblings. Jo Ann was the youngest of five siblings starting with the eldest Lela Mae Harrison, William Matthew Mac Cain, Mozelle (Mose) Willis and Elizabeth (Liz) Bary. Jo Ann is survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Allen Family Funeral Options.

Jo Ann’s Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2024, at Allen Family Funeral Options with a reception to follow.

Jo Ann will be laid to rest at Plano Mutual Cemetery, Plano, Texas.
