Marvin Doyle Evans, 69, passed from the loving arms of his family into a celebration in heaven on May 20, 2022. Doyle was born August 19, 1952, to Newell T. Evans and Frances Irene Unger in Palestine, TX.
Doyle graduated from Westwood High School in 1971. He had a great passion for music and played the drums and sang in various bands in his early years. He married Lyn (Monaghen) Evans in 1976 and had two children, Brent and Lauren Evans, which he poured Jesus into as they grew up. Doyle was a worship leader and youth pastor at Church on the Rock in Athens, Texas and enjoyed a house-full of kids to love and teach God’s word to. He worked for a radio station based out of Trinity Church of Palestine, Texas but later decided to go to the police academy. Doyle graduated from the police academy and got his first job at Palestine Police Department as a highway patrol. He later moved into detective work where he was a part of Crimes Against Children and received awards for Chief Negotiator of the Year in the state of Texas. After17 years at the police department, Doyle relocated to Tyler, Texas.
He soon met Phyllis Calamari and they married in 2009. Doyle became a code enforcement officer for the city of Tyler where he wrote the Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) for code enforcement and created training videos that are still used today to train new officers.
After retirement Doyle and Phyllis moved to Corinth, Texas to be close to children and grandchildren. His hobbies were singing, writing songs, playing the guitar, sharing the gospel, Lulu Talk (pod cast ministry); Tears in a Bottle Ministries; and recently was working on Texas Retired Cops for Christ. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and he loved Jesus with all of his heart.
Left to honor his memory are his wife of 14 years, Phyllis Calamari Evans; son Brent Evans and his wife Miranda (Robertson); his daughter Lauren Evans Awbrey and her husband Joshua; stepson Matthew Osborn and his wife Lisa; stepdaughter Elisabeth Osborne; sister Carolyn Evans Chiever, brothers Forest Evans and Terry Evans; grandchildren Aubrey and Sophia Evans, Luke Awbrey, and Ava and Lily Osborne along with many other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at The Global Spheres Center, 7801 S. Interstate 35E Corinth, Texas, 76201.
