Dorothy (Dot) Gorman

Dorothy Booth Gorman was born September 8, 1937 in Carroll, Iowa to parents Charles Wilford and Frances Loretta (Reinhart) Booth. She went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2018 in Plano, Texas.

Vibrant, cheerful, kind, charitable, and full of life are simply a sampling of words to describe the woman Dorothy (Dot) Gorman was.
For 14 years, Dot volunteered in Women’s Services at Medical Center of Plano. She gained insurmountable joy in seeing to the needs of new mothers. Dot was also fulfilled through volunteer service in her Church in various facets.

Far and above, her full joy was her family. Dot thoroughly cherished time with her Children and Grandchildren. Her sing song laugh could easily be heard lilting above the hum of conversation during large family gatherings.

Dorothy was extremely proud of her Iowa roots and Midwestern sensibilities. Her knack for a hard bargain was second to none. This served her well in revitalizing furnishings, discovering precious finds, and applying her natural skill in interior design to create a warm, beautiful home for her family.

Dorothy’s careful, tender care extended from her family and home’s interior to her gardens. Her horticultural abilities brought a lovely environment to her home’s surroundings. She was especially fond of Bougainville, Roses, and Hydrangeas.

Travel always held a special place in Dot’s heart. She enjoyed many trips across the globe throughout her life.
Within the past twenty years, Dorothy began to collect Angels. Her family gains comfort in knowing the angels Dot held so dear to her heart are now surrounding her in comfort and peace.

Dot’s warm smile and sweet spirit will remain a strong memory to all who crossed her path.

Dot is survived by her husband Joe Gorman, children Valarie Jeffries and her husband Dr. Robert Jeffries, David Leidy and his wife Pamela, Melissa Garcia and her husband Edward, Tammy Woods and her husband Calvin, Wendy Guinn and her husband Jeremy, Sandra Buscher and her husband Michael and Glenda Miller; grandchildren Erin, Haley and Robby Jeffries, Jake Leidy and his wife Emilie, Hannah and Amelia Leidy, Hunter, Grant and Meghan Garcia, sister Marlene Dascalos and her husband Nick. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Frances Booth, the father of her children Robert Leidy, stepson Gerald Miller, stepdaughter, Terry Miller.

The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas. With words of remembrance shared at 4:00. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 3:00 P.M., 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023 with Father Bruce Bradley officiating. Dot will be laid to rest at a later date in the Columbarium of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
