Dorcas Jean Holzkamper

October 3, 1952 — February 13, 2022

Dorcas joined her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2022. She passed away surrounded by loved ones.

Dorcas was born in Amarillo Texas on October 3, 1952, to parents Ira Raymond and Pauline Taylor, and the sister of six siblings.

At the age of sixteen, she would meet the love of her life, Martin. Martin and Dorcas were married just shy of 52 years. Together they had two children, Chris and Kim. While raising children, Dorcas attended Amarillo College and received her degree in nursing. Helping people was her passion. The family then moved to Bedford Texas in 1987 and planted roots.

Amongst her wonderful accomplishments, Dorcas found the most joy in life through her family. She adored her two children, and her four grandchildren, Connor, Hannah, Carlos and Olivia. At that point, she gained the name “Nanny.”  Loyal and loving, magnetic and effervescent, she truly was everyone’s Nanny.

Some of her favorite things were spending time with her grandchildren, trips with her family and going to casino’s. The fall was her favorite time of the year, especially Christmas. She enjoyed showering her grandchildren with presents and making sure it was a magical experience.

Dorcas leaves behind a loving family including her husband, Martin Holzkamper, her children, Chris Holzkamper and Kim McCaffrey, her grandchildren, Connor and Hannah Holzkamper, and Carlos and Olivia Fonts. Her siblings, Pat Harlan, Marge Clipperton, Frank Taylor and Robert Taylor. She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Raymond Taylor, her mother, Pauline Garcia Taylor, her grandmother, Pearl Taylor, her brother, Alvin Taylor, and sister, Iris Cline.

“We were therefore buried with him through Baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Romans 6:4
