Donnie Hawley

August 23, 1938 — June 23, 2022

Donnie (Donelda) Hawley was born August 23, 1938, in Pueblo, Colorado to parents Leslie Victor and Jane Eileen Queen.

After graduating high school, she attended community college in Pueblo, and Colorado State University in Greely, Colorado earning her teaching degree. In 1959 she married John Hawley, having met him at a high school dance years before. These two kindred spirits would embark on a life that would take them around the world and create a large, loving family and hundreds of friends.

In 1961, Donnie and John moved to Farmers Branch, Texas where she taught elementary school until she and John adopted their daughter, Shannon, in 1965. Making a bold move, they headed south for Clear Lake City, Texas and in 1968 welcomed another daughter, Erin. In 1969 the family moved again, this time to Sunnyvale, California.

Once in California, she established a lifetime commitment to the Catholic Church, beginning her career by teaching Sunday school and helping with other parish functions. This commitment continued through two more moves and helped establish the now current CCD requiem for St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Plano, Texas.

Donnie worked tirelessly for her church and began teaching Spiritual Direction for St. Elizabeth and in 2005 she retired from the CCD Program and continued traveling the world with her husband John – traveling to foreign countries, as well as closer to home, visiting friends and relatives and loving life together.

Donnie is survived by her daughters: Shannon Parsons and her husband Tom, Erin Reardon and her husband Steve; grandchildren Alyssa Parsons and her husband Allen, Jordan Hinton and his wife Danielle, Kaitlin Lyon and her husband Kevin, and William Hawley Reardon; great grandchildren Allen James Parsons, Jr., Theodore John Parsons, Emory Marie Lyon, Myles Matthew Lyon, Aubrey Marie Hinton and Jethro Lee Hinton; and her sister Dorothy Rickman of Pueblo, Colorado and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by John, her parents, and four brothers and sisters.
