Donald Weston Holcomb, age 82 was born the third child of four on March 24, 1935 in Sterret, Texas to Oscar Weston Holcomb and Mattie Celene Arnold. He grew up on a farm in Itasca, Texas with his brother and two sisters. He attended school at North Dallas High School where he was proud to have played football and Texas University at Austin where he studied engineering and played college football. Donald served in the United States Army, 8059th Unit in the Korean War. He was awarded a Sharpshooter badge as his level of marksmanship and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He was employed and retired by E-Systems in Garland, Texas (1992) where he was involved in Top Security projects with satellite technology. To this day he remained loyal on not sharing his knowledge of the top secret projects as he only ever spoke that it involved satellites. Other employment included Collins Radio and Electrospace in Richardson. He married his first wife Peggie in 1958 and had two daughters Lori Jo and Julie Ann. They lived in Garland, Texas for 5 years then moved to Tucson, Arizona where he was employed by Hughes Aircraft. After living in Tucson for a year they returned to Irving, Texas. He married his second wife Marjorie in 1990 and they lived in Rockwall, Texas on Lake Rockwall for 18 years. He loved the house he lived in there as he could look out the back window or sit on the deck and look out over the lake. He was a member of Rockwall United Methodist Church. He loves football and fishing. He always had his fishing pole and tackle box in the trunk of his car so he was prepared for a spur of the moment fishing trip. He never missed a Dallas Cowboy or Texas University football game even if he was injured and needing to take a trip to the emergency room he would wait until the game was over. He has many friends at his last place of residence at the Waterford in Plano. If you ask any of them they will tell you he was a very sweet man with a bit of an ornery streak and is deeply missed. Donald loves his new life in Heaven sitting by a beautiful lake doing what he loves- fishing.
