Donald (Don) Herbert Wilson

Donald Herbert Wilson, age 75 of Richardson, Texas and formerly from Dallas, Texas went peacefully to the Lord on April 3, 2018.

Don was born on December 27, 1942 in Decatur, Illinois and graduated from Millikan University with a degree in Industrial Psychology. He served two years in the United States Army as a psychologist. Don later met the love of his life, Janice Kaye Elder, meeting her at a train station in a blizzard. They married July 9, 1966. Don and Jan shared their life together for 51 years. Their love will be in our hearts forever.

After retiring from Public Relations with Texas Utilities. Don enjoyed spending time with Jan, exercising and watching the Chicago News on WGN. He also had many jobs. He worked at the Dallas Can Academy, State Farm and Lowes. Don never met a stranger. He touched the lives of many people. If he did not know your name, he would make sure you were wearing a nametag. He served on the MLK Board, North Dallas and East Dallas Chambers of Commerce as well as numerous PTA boards. If there was a leadership opportunity or a volunteer position, Don was always willing to lend a helping hand.

When Don was not volunteering, he loved spending time with his six grandchildren who called him Poppi. He enjoyed watching them play baseball, soccer and especially football. Don truly enjoyed the Friday Night Lights in Texas. He would often venture out with one of his grandchildren to watch some Texas High School Football. Don always made sure the yard was manicured and looked its best. He and Jan would sit and enjoy each other’s company.

Don is survived by his wife of 51 years Jan Wilson, his daughter Wendi Hart, her husband David and their children Connor, Carson, Chandler and Caitlyn, his son Kent Wilson and his wife Ashley and their children Ben and Blake.
