Dolores Ann Sawyers

Mrs. Dolores Ann Sawyers, age 71, passed away August 27, 2021.  She was born in Tazewell County, Virginia on November 24, 1949 and she was the daughter of the late Carl O. Whitt and Vergie Faye Pruett Whitt.  Dolores was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother.  She was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Ashburn, Virginia. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing gospel hymns and playing the piano.

Her daily devotion to the Bible, with unwavering faith and trust in God, was a beacon of strength during her times of illness.  She lived each day with grace and always put others before herself.  We will always cherish the beautifully handwritten letters she would send sharing her encouraging thoughts, uplifting scriptures, stories of her travels, and love for her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son CMSGT Reggie Eric Sawyers and two sisters-in-law, Virginia Whitt and Peggy Whitt.

She is survived by her loving husband James Thomas Sawyers, daughter Allison Schreiner and her husband Christopher Schreiner, granddaughter Ashleigh Harris, three brothers, Douglas L. Whitt of Charlotte, North Carolina, Donald G. Whitt of Bluefield, Virginia, and Danny R. Whitt and his wife Bonnie Whitt of Leesburg, Florida.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options, with visitation one hour before the service. For those unable to attend, the service will be broadcast live at the following link: http://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/59548

Interment for Dolores will be on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, Texas 75211.
