Kerry Dion Smith

Kerry Dion Smith passed away suddenly on January 30, 2023, in Plano, Texas due to an unfortunate accident.  Dion was born on November 15, 1963, in Warsaw, Kosciusko County, Indiana, as the first child of Kerry Lyndon Smith and Sara Louise Sarber.

Growing up, Dion enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family. They would camp, fish and waterski. He also enjoyed being in Boy Scouts, going camping and other activities. He had a great love for Camaros and classic cars. He enjoyed going to car shows with his father. Dion was interested in everything to do with outer space and NASA and received his pilot's license and enjoyed bringing his friends and family on flights in Cessna airplanes.

Dion was a gentle, kind person and his love for his children was the cornerstone of his life.  He enjoyed sharing his passion for music and movies with his children.  He celebrated many memorable birthday parties, sporting events and other activities enjoying time with them growing up and he was proud of their accomplishments as they became successful, young adults.  He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Dion is survived by his children Austin W. Smith and his wife Cheyanne of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sara A. Lewis and her husband Justin of Lavon, Texas, his father Kerry Lyndon Smith, stepmother Juliette and brother Alexander D. Smith.  He is mourned by his former wife Amy Smith-Curtis (nee SHAFFER) and her extended family, stepfather Max B. Kovsky of Plano, Texas, aunt Jill Smith Buelman of Keller, Texas and his cousin Hunter S. Buelman of Denton, Texas, uncle Anthony Smith and his wife Cathy of Grapevine, Texas.

Dion was predeceased by his mother in 2019.

Dion will be interred with his mother at Lakeview Cemetery in Lavon, Texas.  A private memorial will be held with immediate family and close friends.
