Dimitri (Miki/Mike) Alexander Lukshin passed away late in the evening of Monday, July 14, 2025, in Plano, Texas. Mike was 88.
Mike was born June 11, 1937, to Alexander John (of Simbirsk, Russia) and Martha Booth (of Marietta, Ohio) Lukshin in Beirut, Lebanon. Mike moved to the United States in 1941 and grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. Mike started his career at US Steel Corporation before beginning a lifelong affiliation with the United States Navy. During his active-duty deployment, he was a Nuclear Weapons Instructor specializing in nuclear emergencies at the Defense Atomic Support Agency, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mike then joined IBM as a Systems Engineer for Princeton University and later held increasingly significant roles in product management.
It was IBM that took Mike and family from Princeton, New Jersey to Austin, Texas, with a stop in Danbury, Connecticut. While working at IBM, Mike joined the Naval Reserve as a Civil Engineer Corps officer in the Naval Construction Force (“Seabees”), rising to the rank of Captain/Commodore. Many lifelong friendships were formed through both IBM and the Seabees.
After his retirement, Mike had a busy life traveling the world with his wife, Beth; visiting with his children; creating a backyard oasis; driving the train at Kiwanis events; and reconnecting with his extended family. After Beth’s passing, he moved to Plano, Texas.
Mike was preceded in death by his beloved bride of over fifty-five years, Beth Lukshin; son Craig Lukshin; and brothers Alexander Lukshin and Nikolai Lukshin.
He is survived by son Keith Lukshin and wife, Julie; brother Paul Lukshin and wife, Susie; sister-in-law Cindy Lukshin; nephew Michael Lukshin and wife, Talitha; nephew Steven Lukshin; niece Tanya Aggar and husband, Mark; nephew Kevin Lukshin and wife, Kristi; niece Brandi Friedland and fiancé, Nick; and a loving extended family.
Mike’s family expresses their gratitude to his caretakers—Karen, Anna, Nunu, and Lena—for the care and support they so lovingly provided.
A remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
The family would like to thank all of Mike’s friends and extended family for all their love and support. While he will be missed by all, he has rejoined the love of his life.
