Diane Carol Gibson

August 5, 1965 — May 22, 2021

Diane Carol Gibson was born August 5, 1965, and stepped peaceably into Heaven on May 22, 2021, at the age of 55 in Plano, Texas.

She was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After high school, she moved to Dallas to pursue modeling. Finding that unfulfilling, she became involved with the oil and gas industry. She married Robert Gibson in March of 1990. They joyously welcomed their son, Carrington Collin Taylor, in 1992. She enjoyed a successful career in the oil industry until retiring in 2017.

Diane was a dynamic, athletic and creative person. She often said that she was born in the wrong era. She embraced the elegance, manners, music and culture of the 1930's. She was generous and gave wonderful, elaborate parties and gifts to those she cared about. She enjoyed playing and watching golf. She explored her creative side: creating gourmet meals from scratch, drawing, writing poetry, creating a line of children’s toys, overseeing the refurbishing of antiques, and decorating.

She loved the Lord and understood His grace and forgiveness. Throughout her health issues, she never failed to reach out to the Lord. She enjoyed long conversations with her father and brother, Bill, discussing scripture.

Her greatest love, apart from the Lord, was Collin. She and Collin would have a lively time playing, watching and discussing golf. She proudly watched him as he developed his talent. She relished any time spent being with him, from the exciting to the mundane. Her favorite day would be where she cooked all his favorite foods, accompanied him on a round of golf and ended the day with conversation.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Johnson (1941-2003); her father, Ed Johnson (1937-2019) and her former husband, Robert Gibson (1924-2008).

She is survived by her son, Collin Gibson of Frisco, Texas; sister, Angel McDaniel and her husband, Jim of Orlando, Florida; brother, Bill Johnson and his wife, Janice of Hot Springs, Arkansas and niece, Autumn Rose.
