Diana Alvarado Ray

December 3, 1955 — December 9, 2017

Diana Alvarado Ray was born on December 3, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Reyes and Pauline Alvarado. She passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2017 in Plano, Texas.

Diana and Andy met January 1, 1986 at a New Year’s party at Studebakers in San Antonio, Texas and neither of them wanted to be there. Her sister Rose, dragged her there and Andy’s friend Tom insisted that he went; they started dating after that and on March 3, 1987 they were married on a snowy day in Lake Tahoe, California.

After the marriage they moved to the Dallas area where Andy had taken a new job. They lived in Coppell with Diana’s two daughters, Paula and Renee.

As a family, they relocated frequently, from Dallas back to San Antonio to Dayton Beach, Florida back to Dallas then on to Seattle, Washington and then back to Dallas. Diana considered herself a Texas girl and always willing to take on the next big adventure; but always preferred to be in Texas.

Diana was an optician and optician manager; working in optical centers in San Antonio, Dallas and the Seattle area. She loved the work; always trying to help her customers select the right eye wear and making sure they were happy with their purchase.

She was half Spanish, so she loved to read everything about Spain. The history, the music and she would speak the “real” Spanish. She would literally spend hours reading on her tablet.

Diana loved old movies and favored TBS, she loved to watch any movie with Betty Davis; but her favorite movie was Gone with the Wind. She loved everything about it; the actors, the history and she always recited lines from the movie, like when Rhett says, “Frankly, I don’t give a damn.”

She enjoyed going out to eat at nice restaurants and would spend hours getting ready. While at dinner she would always ask the waiter to take our picture and then the photo went into her scrapbook. Diana loved to dance and would drag Andy to the dance floor where he would try to keep up.

Diana was always a lady and never left the house without being dressed to the “9’s” after going through her wardrobe. She was looking forward to her new place as it had plenty of closet space and room to fill with new items from her shopping trips.

During thirty years of marriage; there were ups and downs with good times and bad, but Andy said that he will always remember the good time and love her forever. She will never be gone with the wind.

Diana is survived by her husband Andrew (Andy) Ray, daughters Paula Walker and her husband James and Renee Lopez, grandchildren Bradley and Julia Mayfield, Lauren Walker, Emily and Peyton Burnett.

An Afternoon of Remembrance will be held to celebrate Diana’s life on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Allen Family Funeral Options from 4-6:00 P.M. with words of remembrance spoken at 5:00 P.M.

If desired, contributions may be made in Diana’s name to the charity of your choice.
