Deloris Eicke

May 16, 1932 — July 30, 2023

Deloris Maxine (Fockler) Eicke of The Colony, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2023, at the age of 91.  Deloris was born on May 16, 1932, to Lloyd Eugene (Slim) Fockler and Francis Harriet Becker in Boon Township Michigan.  She was the oldest sibling and only daughter.  She grew up in Merritt Michigan and graduated from Merritt High School.

Deloris married William Bradford (Bud) Eicke on April 13, 1956.  Together they raised five boys.  The Eicke’s travelled extensively before settling in Vidor Texas and eventually in Plano Texas. When the boys were old enough, she went back to work to keep herself active.  She worked in retail stores and also enjoyed working in bookstores.  She enjoyed the work, but she enjoyed the people she worked with more.

Deloris’s way of living set an extraordinary example.  She truly loved others unconditionally.  She always found the best in everyone.  She generously gave gifts to others in need; then secretly did without herself.   She excelled in mathematics, reading, cooking, and caring for children and pets.  She treasured staying in touch with friends and family via letters and newspaper clippings.  She cherished books, country music (especially her brother’s music), red barns, red trucks, horses, sewing, crochet, western movies, and the Gun Smoke TV series.  Her life was a true example of a giving heart, a most admirable woman.

Deloris is survived by her sons; Robert of Louisiana; Edward and wife Alice Robinson of Louisiana; Dennis and wife Karen McGinnis of Benbrook, Texas; Charles and wife Rose Barksdale of The Colony, TX;  Barry of Trenton, TX; and, Sam of Rowlett, TX; her grandchildren; Tiffanie Rose LeGrande, Jonathan Paul Fockler, Brandon Lee Hartwell, Cody Aaron Eicke, Phillip Ryan Eicke, Jessica Nicole Reinartz, Alex Wade Eicke, Mark William Eicke, Jeremy Bradford Eicke, Joshua David Eicke, Kolby Craig Wolf; and her great-grandchildren; Grayson Lee Hartwell, Cohen James and Casen Wade Reinartz, Aurora Quinn Eicke, Luke David Eicke, Alaina Champagne, Cooper Legrand, Alexa Fockler, Mackenzlie Ewing, and Jon-Paul Fockler. Deloris is preceded in death by her parents; Lloyd and Francis Fockler; her son; William Bradford Eicke; and her brothers; Doyle Lloyd, Dale Matthew, and Michael Bruce.
