David Edge

Paul David Edge was born on July 27, 1942 in Bryan, Texas to parents Paul and Lu Edge. He and his brothers, Bill and John, moved often throughout their father’s career. David graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston and then graduated from Texas A&M at Commerce, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business.

He moved to Tyler, Texas to begin his lengthy career with Crum & Forster Insurance. There he met and married his wife Marcia Chancellor in 1969. David and Marcia had two wonderful sons. Throughout David’s career, they moved around the state, from Tyler to El Paso, Lubbock, San Antonio and finally settling in the Dallas area making friendships along the way and many remaining lifelong.

After a successful, 38-year career with Crum and Forster, David retired and he and his wife, Marcia enjoyed a life of extensive travel, time with their two beautiful grandchildren and wonderful days at the family ranch in Tyler.

David was a very devoted husband and father as well as an active member of his church. His greatest passion was his love for his wife, Marcia, having been married for over 49 years. He was heavily involved with his two sons; especially their sports endeavors. True to his loyal ways he had countless friends throughout life, several of them lifelong.

David had many interests in life. He was a hunter and fisherman for many years and eventually finding photography as another interest. He was passionate about sports, more specifically the Dallas Cowboys, Texas A&M football, Texas Rangers and tennis. Days at the family ranch, tending to the land on his John Deere tractor also brought him much joy.

Though his health faded at the end, he was surrounded by the people he loved most – his family and close friends. David is remembered for his sense of humor, generous heart and humble gentlemanly manner.

David is survived by his loving wife Marcia Ann Chancellor Edge, sons Corey Edge and his wife Amy and Kinsey Edge, grandchildren Connor and Kate Edge, siblings John Edge and his wife Cindy of Houston, TX., Bill Edge and his wife Helen of Atlanta, Georgia., mother-in-law Eunice Chancellor of Tyler, Texas., sister-in-law Carolynne Chancellor- Dallas, Texas and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a memorial service to honor and celebrate David’s life Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Road, Plano, Texas 75075. A reception at the church will follow the service.
