Dan Henrion

July 13, 1960 — June 4, 2026

Melissa, Texas

It is with great sadness that I share the sudden passing of my son and best friend Dan Henrion. He had been my anchor since I moved to Texas four years ago to support him in his heart transplant journey in 2022. Since he had moved away from our NYC home over 40 years earlier, it was only since then that I experienced the joy of getting to know him as an adult.

He was grateful to have a new start and had been doing well and living a full life after the heart and kidney transplants. He cooked dinner for us at my house the night before his passing, as we talked about his dreams for the future. He texted me the next afternoon that he was coming over to install an AC in my garage. Shortly afterward he was found nonresponsive outside his door by a neighbor who contacted the police.

Too soon, too soon…. there are no words to express my grief. Dan possessed a keen mind combined with kindness, compassion, and generosity, while not being immune to the frailties of the human condition that we all share. This is a great loss…I will miss him always and will think of him every day.

I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and sympathy in response to my Facebook posting of Dan’s passing. I am sincerely grateful for your support and kind words during this difficult time. It has been a great help in my healing process.

For those who experienced firsthand Dan’s caring and compassionate nature both for people and animals, it is heartwarming to know that he was appreciated. Memories of Dan will live on long after he has shuffled off this mortal coil. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On the day of Dan’s death, a mourning dove hatched from the nest that had been created in the flower box on my terrace. It was Dan who had built the flower boxes and planted the seeds earlier this year.

Rest in peace Danny boy.

Dan is survived by his mother Marilyn Henrion; sister Michele Pomella; nephew Sean Pomella; niece Manisha Henrion; sister Claudia Henrion; sister Jacqueline Henrion
