Consuelo F. Enriquez, lovingly known as “Guel,” passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on September 21, 1931.
An independent and devoted homemaker, Consuelo spent her life raising her family and doing everything, she could to provide for them. Hers was a quiet strength — the kind that shows up not in grand gestures, but in the daily work of caring for the people she loved.
She had a gift for delighting her grandchildren. Guel was famous for making up stories on the spot, and whenever the kids begged her to tell one again, she’d cheerfully get it all wrong — having long forgotten the details of whatever she’d invented the first time. The “corrections” became part of the fun, and those tangled, ever-changing tales are some of the warmest memories her family carries.
In her retirement years, Guel found great joy in simply being with her grandchildren. She loved taking them along to Bingo and spending afternoons at home over card games and dominoes. She never stopped praying for her great-grandchildren, holding each of them close in her heart, and she prayed faithfully for all of her nieces and nephews, who carry loving memories of her in return.
Consuelo is survived by her daughter Esther, and husband Antonio Hernandez; her grandchildren, Anthony, Alex, and Eric. Her grandsons from her son, Jose Carlos Enriquez; Carlos, Omar, and Adrian; and her cherished great-grandchildren — Luke, Isabel, Amy, and Erika (children of Alex), and Ethan, Evan, and Jasmine (children of Eric), and Jonathan and Karla (children of Carlos), and Ulysses and Idali (children of Omar). She is also survived by her sister, Irma, and Irma’s husband, Fernando Meraz, along with their children: Socorro (Coyo), Martha (Pily), Fernando (Nando), Irma (Tita), and Jorge. She was preceded in death by her son, Jose Carlos Enriquez, who passed away in 2009, and by her siblings Alicia (Licha), Jose, Guadalupe (Lupe), and Paulino, whom she lovingly remembered always — praying faithfully for all of their children as well.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved her.
