Claudia Marie Endres Taylor was born February 14, 1946 in Muenster, Texas. Born an old soul, she learned responsibility young. After graduating high school salutatorian Claudia went on to St. Paul’s School of Nursing where she started a long rewarding career of taking care of people. Claudia met the love of her life, Dennis Taylor at a party and they married November 3, 1967. The happy couple moved to Houston and lived there three years and had their girls. Wanting to be closer to family the Taylors moved to Plano where Claudia stayed home with the girls for ten years. She volunteered throughout the girls’ school years-as soccer coach and both she and Dennis enjoyed helping with school band clubs. She returned to work as a Plano school nurse and said, “Best job I ever had because I got paid to love kids.” Dennis and Claudia opened Taylor Drug and Medical Store in 1983 on Parker Road, Plano. Taylor 2 opened in 1998 and for 15 years Claudia loved helping customers. When customers were in her store they became her friends and she taught them how to use medical equipment, gave advice and listened to many, many of their health stories which gave them much comfort. This is what she loved to do-teach, help, love. Dennis died in 2005 which left a profound hole in his family’s hearts. Claudia relied on her faith, family and friends but through her ordeal many of us learned what strength really means. Claudia exemplified character of grace and fortitude. With Dennis’ death she became the backbone of the Taylor family business and stepped into the role of business woman. With this newly developed skill Claudia provided a constant for her family and her girls. Grandchildren were great joy to both Dennis and Claudia. She watched them grow and nurtured them. A chance to see Madie in a dance recital and Colton play baseball brought much happiness. Just being in the store side by side with them was enough for Claudia. A quiet presence with them brought her peace. They were her happiness. Claudia often said she had three families. Her own, her church family and her clinic family. Each gave her pleasure and again gave her a chance to teach and love. She was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton and Prince of Peace Catholic Churches. Her church group filled her spiritual needs and she was pleased to be a part of many priest’s journey. Her clinic group, Plano Childrens Medical Clinic, was unique unto itself as a bond was forged in first work, friendship and then love. Claudia said of the clinic, “Our true gift is our friendships.” Both of these groups lasted decades and Claudia will be missed so. One word describes Claudia-brave. She never let grief consume her and she carried on for her family. The same attitude followed with her cancer diagnosis. She took it in stride and did what she had to do to combat it all the while never complaining. And this will be her legacy-education, faith, character, grace, strength and love. Claudia spoke of lying in her backyard staring up at the stars as one of her pleasurable childhood memories. We will look to the stars for Claudia. We loved her.
