Claude Hollis Hill, 98, of Plano Texas, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, May 16, 2024. His faith in the Lord was evident by his servant's heart and furthering the Kingdom.
Claude is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Peggy Hill, two children Cynthia Morrison (John) of Memphis, Tennessee and Ryan Hill of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as "HoHo", Buddy Morrison of Memphis, Tennessee, Claudette Hawkins (Brad) of Greenwood, Mississippi, Jenny Miller (Trip) of Memphis, Tennessee, Canon Hill of Austin, Texas, Lily Hill of Plano, Texas and Alexandra Hill of Geneva, Switzerland; four great grandchildren, Ann Hollis, Mimsie, Gracie and Maclin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lela Hill of Hot Springs, Arkansas and his sister Doris Rowden.
Claude was born, on November 23, 1925, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Upon graduating Bismarck High School in the spring of 1944, he was drafted into the United States Army to serve in World War II. At the age of 19, in December 1944, under the command of General Omar Bradley, he was assigned to the 99th Infantry's frontlines during the Battle of Bulge. Claude was promoted to the rank of Sergeant during the campaign and for his valor Claude was awarded the EAME Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany), Victory Ribbon and 2 Overseas Service Bars.
Upon separation from the United States Army in 1946, Claude returned to Hot Springs, Arkansas where he worked for Universal CIT, as a credit manager for 23 years, rising to District Manager. In 1970, he joined Ford Motor Credit, where he remained until his retirement in 1990, as Arkansas District Manager in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In 1948, he met the love of his life, Peggy "Brasher" Hill. They married on December 23, 1950 at the Second Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas. In 1951, his reserve unit was called into active duty for the Korean War, with the rank of Sergeant First Class, where he served until his discharge in 1952.
Claude served on numerous church committees, a loyal attendee of men's Bible fellowship and Sunday School. He was active in the Masonic Temple, obtaining his 32nd degree and ultimately as a Shriner. Before retiring, he loved to play golf with his son and friends. He enjoyed watching golf, college basketball and football, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks.
All are welcome to the viewing and visitation at Allen Family Funeral Options on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm. A private family graveside service will be performed on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, with full military honors.
