Cherie Marie Lehman: A Beautiful Life of Love, Laughter and Extraordinary Impact
On Sept 9th, 2021, at 9:17am on a beautiful sunny southern morning, our beloved Cherie took the hand of Jesus and stepped into His Eternal Garden, where we can only imagine her dancing and singing under the stardust forever more.
Born in Ironton, Ohio on Dec 2, 1953, to loving parents Jack and Mollie Collette (John and Micki Carr), Cherie was their first baby girl and the third child of seven.
When she was 2 years old her family migrated to Los Angeles where she helped raise her six siblings. Cherie lived most of her life in California where she pursued acting and fashion modeling.
In 1974 she married the love of her life Stan Lehman where they began their great love story of 47 years and shortly after being united in holy matrimony, they welcomed their son Christopher.
Together they continued to build a beautiful life surrounded by grace and their unwavering faith while pursuing a lifelong ministry to reach the next generation through their home church called Church on The Way. This led to Cherie’s passion for taking care of babies and eventually fostering children. They officially adopted Hannah Rose in the fall of 2003.
You never had to look too far for Cherie, as she could always be found sipping her coffee in her kitchen looking out the window, listening to worship songs, reading the bible and more often, journaling in one of her notebooks. Forever gushing over the pretty flowers in her yard or English gardens you see in magazines and idyllic places like Carmel by the Sea.
Cherie loved the beach, watching Chris surf, sitting in twinkly cafes as much as she loved the mountains and hills in her backyard. She loved to get cozy in the cold season, especially Christmas time when the spontaneous wonderland of snow would fall in Leona Valley.
Cherie loved her wind chimes, shopping the antique stores with Hannah and her sisters; always on the lookout for another cute hat or dress. She loved crafting jewelry and talking into the late night with her siblings.
When Stan, Cherie and Hannah moved to the Lone Star State for their next adventure, they dreamt up their new little slice of heaven on the long prairie filled drives.
Notorious for loving to find laughter, being mischievous and making others feel that warmth.
Cherie had a great love for The Father and wherever she went that love followed. It was especially exemplified in how deeply she adored her family and how she poured her life into loving them. Stan was her absolute rock and king, Chris her prince and Hannah her little princess. They were undoubtedly her everything and she especially treasured her grandchild Halen.
Oh, how she loved & adored all her nieces and nephews to pieces. Each one carries their own unique bond with her. She was instant love and light, beautiful, timeless, elegant, and funny all at once.
When she walked into a room the air lightened and people just wanted to be near her.
Cherie’s life, her love and her incredible laughter will always continue through this side of eternity through the legacy she leaves in each of us. We will always be able to find her in the sweet things that remind us of how she so loved each and every one of us.
Cherie is survived by her loving husband Stan Lehman; children Chris Lehman and his fiancé Mia and Hannah Lehman; grandson Halen Lehman; siblings Bob Carr and his wife Pam, Patricia Jordan, Vickie Collette-Hernandez, Dave Carr and his wife Patty, Kitty Cummins, and her husband Joe; sister-in-law Kay Carr and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Rick Carr; brother-in-law Ken Jordan.
