Charles Wofford, 92, of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. Charles was born in Santa Rita, New Mexico on February 16, 1933, to Rhotten (“Jack”) and Nina (Edwards) Wofford.
He lived in many places while growing up, including Waco, Marble Falls and El Paso, Texas where he graduated from Austin High School. He joined the Navy along with his older brother Kenneth at 17 years old in August 1950 and served as a radioman on a Minesweeper during the Korean Conflict. Charles received several medals for his service and was honorably discharged in May 1953.
Charles married the love of his life, Jeanine Burke, on December 22, 1951, in El Paso, Texas and they were married for 73 years. He gained his college degree from Texas Western College in El Paso, Texas while working full time for the Federal Reserve Bank.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Jeanine, his three children Steve, and his wife Mary (Renshaw), Michael, and his wife Rose (Bevilacqua) and Susan, and her husband Michael Mead. Charles was preceded in death by his two beloved grandchildren, Michael and Robert. He is survived by his grandchildren, Chase, and his wife Kylee of Nashville, Tennessee, Stephanie of Denver, Colorado, Burke of Dallas, Texas and Jason of Columbus, Ohio.
Charles was dedicated to his career, retiring at 80. He spent 33 years at Texas Instruments starting as a Line Supervisor in Richardson, Texas in 1958, promoted to Manufacturing Manager in Sherman, Texas in 1965, transferred to Bedford, England in 1970 to become Managing Director and later to Nice, France in 1975 as European Manager. He retired from TI as a Senior Vice President in 1991. During this time, he traveled extensively to Europe, the Far
East, Central and South America. Charles continued to pursue his career in semiconductors living in Manhattan Beach, California from 1991 to 1994. He joined the Board of Directors of STATS, a Singapore company, in 1998 and served as its chairman from 2002 until his retirement in 2013. Throughout these years Charles developed many close friends around the world and provided his family the opportunity of living and traveling abroad.
Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather with a passion for his German Shepherds, playing golf, skiing and traveling. He enjoyed watching football and golf on TV, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
