Charles Douglas Rich, having lived a full, giving and he would say, a blessed life, died peacefully on Thursday, December 12 th , 2019 at the age of 81, after an extended illness.
He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Henry Bruce Rich, Sr. and Mattie Naomi (Fanning) Rich on February 7 th , 1938. Over the next few years, Charles’s family relocated to Monahans, Texas. Charles graduated from Monahans High School in 1956 and served in the US Army after the Korean conflict where he was a control tower operator. He returned to civil duties in Monahans, where he met his loving wife, Sue Ellen (Geary) Rich of 59 years. They were married September 10 th 1960. He worked for Mobil Oil and later became a master electrician. He and his wife moved to the Dallas area in 1986 where he spent the last 15 years as an electrical inspector for the city of Plano, Texas until he retired in 2009.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Henry Bruce Rich, Jr., sister, Jo Ann (Rich) Wein and son, Charles Matthew Rich.
Charles and Sue Ellen settled in Fairview, TX at Heritage Ranch and Country Club, where they met a host of friends playing golf daily. His proud moments in golf were the days he made his holes in one. He and his wife enjoyed travelling, where Ireland, Germany and Italy were their favorite destinations.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sue Ellen Rich; son, Douglas Michael Rich, of Dallas; daughter, Susan Elaine Rich, of Tennessee; grandsons, Nicholas Christopher Rich and Garrett Matthew Rich and granddaughter Susan Danielle Rich. He is also survived by his brother, Jack R Rich, of Granbury, sister, Alice Pauline Brooks, of San Angelo and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at the St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N. Greenville Avenue, Allen Texas, on Thursday December 19 th , at 10:00 AM with a reception to follow
