Charles Raymond Sheffield

March 31, 1959 — January 3, 2026

Plano, Texas

Charles Raymond Sheffield was born on March 31, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to Ralph Dandridge (Danny) and Marilyn George Sheffield. He passed away on January 3, 2026, in his home in Plano, Texas. Charles was surrounded by the love and legacy of a life devoted to family, service, and quiet strength.

Charles grew up in North Texas and graduated from Plano Senior High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of North Texas. On June 25, 1983, he married the love of his life, Valerie Sheffield.

Together they shared 42 years of marriage marked by devotion, partnership, and unwavering support for their family.

Charles proudly served the City of Dallas as a Dallas Police Officer for 31 years, spending the majority of his career in patrol. His service was defined by dedication, professionalism, and care for the community he protected. Over the years, he also served as a senior corporal and was a master police officer.

One place that held a special place in his heart was Sky Ranch. It was where he met his wife, the love of his life, and where their cherished friendship began – a relationship that lasted a lifetime. And in a beautiful way, that story continued to build seeds to become meaningful to our whole family, as all of his children attended Sky Ranch. What started as one meaningful summer as camp counselors that became a legacy that continues through us.

Beyond his professional life, Charles had a spirit of curiosity and adventure. He earned his license as a single-engine aircraft pilot, fulfilling a lifelong interest in aviation. He also loved sports, especially football and soccer. Charles and Valerie even played co-ed soccer together, and all three of their children followed in his footsteps, playing the sport, he loved.

Above all else, Charles cherished his family. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play soccer. He rarely missed a game, traveling all over the Metroplex to cheer them on – no matter the heat or the kickoff time.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie Sheffield; his children, Brian Sheffield and fiancé Christi, Michael Sheffield and wife Kerri, and Nicole Sheffield; his treasured grandchildren, Aubree, Bri, Kennedy, Casen, and Nina; his sister, Suzanne Chatham; his brother David Sheffield; and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Danny and Marilyn Sheffield.

Charles Raymond Sheffield will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal brother, and dedicated public servant. His steady presence, quiet humor, and steadfast love leave an enduring mark on all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives he protected, the family he cherished, and the countless moments he showed up – faithfully and fully – for those he loved.

There will be a celebration of Charles life at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Allen Family Funeral Options. If you wish to join the service via webcast, please visit: https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/118927
