Charles (Chuck) Hoffman

September 18, 1946 — January 5, 2025

Charles “Chuck” Andrew Hoffman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to parents Charles and Dorothy Hoffman.

He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1963 and St. John’s University in 1967. On his 22nd birthday, during the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the Navy. He served four years in Adak, Alaska; Pensacola, Florida; and Puerto Rico.

Chuck married his wife of 53 years, Barbara Carney, on his 25th birthday. They shared three children, Robert “Bob”, Kelly, and Lauren.

Chuck worked for State Bank of Long Island for 32 years, retiring from his role as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending in 2007. He also served as Board Member of the Long Island Museum of Science and Technology, and President and Chapter President of the Long Island division of the Robert Morris Association (RMA). Chuck was a proud member of the Finance Committee at Stonebridge Ranch.

They moved to McKinney, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren, who were his whole world. An avid film aficionado and audiophile, Chuck shared his passion for movies and music with everyone he encountered. He had a video camera in his hand at every major event and milestone. He teared up every time he so eloquently expressed the deep love he had for his wife and family.

Chuck lived life with a quick wit and a sense of humor. His grandkids lovingly referred to him as “Poppy.”  His final mission was to help find a cure for his beloved neighbor, Will Woleben, and all children who suffer from rare mitochondrial diseases.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife Barbara Carney Hoffman; children Robert “Bob” Hoffman and his favorite daughter in law Julia Iverson Hoffman, Kelly Hoffman, Lauren Hoffman Escobedo and his favorite son in law Roger “Andrew” Escobedo; grandchildren Caitlin Hoffman Jenson and her husband Brandon, Andrew Hoffman, Alexa Hoffman, Graham Escobedo, Jude Escobedo; sister Judy Hoffman Keenan.

There will be memorial service to celebrate Chuck’s life at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Custer Road United Methodist Church.
