Charllene Wang

Feb 12, 1975 — Jun 24, 2026

Plano, Texas

Charllene (Xingzi) Wang was born on February 12, 1975, in Dongshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. She was born with a congenital heart defect and remained physically fragile throughout her life. Yet although her health was delicate, she never lacked love.

From the day she was born, Xingzi was surrounded by the unwavering love and devotion of her family. Her father lovingly cared for her throughout her childhood. Her older sister, Jiamei, who is twelve years her senior, often carried her on her back until she was nearly ten years old. Gentle, kind, and pure in spirit, Xingzi inspired everyone around her to love and protect her.

During her teenage years, her family moved to Guangdong Province, where they established one of the region’s early private enterprises. She spent most of her adolescence there before traveling to the United States to seek specialized medical care.

In 1994, Xingzi moved to Dallas, Texas, where she lived with her sister, Jiamei Wang. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton. During her college years, she met the love of her life, Peter Chang. Together they built a life filled with love, companionship, and unwavering devotion. Peter lovingly cared for Xingzi throughout their life together, surrounding her with constant support, patience, and unconditional love.

Despite living with congenital heart disease, Xingzi faced life’s challenges with remarkable optimism, courage, and resilience. She cherished her family and friends, and in return was deeply loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A devoted follower of the Pure Land Buddhist tradition, Xingzi studied under Master Jingzong for more than forty years. Her faith gave her strength through every challenge and inspired her to live with kindness, compassion, gratitude, and inner peace. She touched many lives through her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion.

Xingzi had a deep appreciation for art, classical music, and antiques. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her sister. Every year they treasured their time together in Dallas—attending symphony concerts, exploring antique malls, and enjoying Xingzi’s favorite restaurants. These simple moments became some of life’s most precious memories.

Xingzi also dearly loved her two nephews, George Wang Riera and William Wang Riera, and the love they shared was returned wholeheartedly. One of the family’s most treasured memories was celebrating Independence Day together last year, when George and William lovingly pushed her wheelchair as they watched the fireworks. As this year’s Independence Day approaches, that memory feels especially meaningful—a simple evening filled with laughter, love, and togetherness that will forever remain in the hearts of her family.

As her family lovingly sorted through her belongings, they found many antiques the two sisters had collected together over the years. Each piece became a treasured reminder of the laughter, love, and beautiful memories they shared, and of a bond that time can never erase.

Xingzi is lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Peter Chang; her sister, Jiamei Wang; her brother-in-law, Steven Tang; and her two beloved nephews, George Wang Riera and William Wang Riera.

A Family Tribute

Xingzi devoted more than forty years of her life to the Pure Land Buddhist tradition as a faithful follower of Master Jingzong.

Our family finds comfort in believing that she has completed her journey in this life and has been welcomed by Amitabha Buddha into the Pure Land—a place free from suffering, pain, and fear, filled instead with everlasting peace, compassion, and light.

Although we miss her beyond words, we believe this is not a final farewell, but the beginning of another beautiful journey.

Though she walked through life with illness, she was always surrounded by love. And in return, she filled the lives of everyone around her with love.

May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the boundless compassion of Amitabha Buddha. May we cherish the kindness, courage, and faith she leaves behind, and may we one day be reunited again in the Pure Land.

Namo Amitabha Buddha.
