It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Chad Lee St. John, age 49, who left us on August 13, 2025, in McKinney, Texas.
Born on September 12, 1975, in Albany, New York, Chad spent his early years throughout the Northeast before moving to Plano, Texas, in 1987. Though Texas became home, his heart always held a special place for Boston. Chad graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1993, where he excelled in multiple sports and formed many lifelong friendships.
He began his college journey at the University of Oklahoma before transferring to the University of Arkansas, where he graduated and met the love of his life. After college, Chad returned to Texas to begin his career as a Landscape Architect, eventually finding his professional home at Jacobs Engineering in 2005—a place where he dedicated over 20 years of service.
Chad’s life was defined by passion, generosity, and an unwavering love for family and friends. He embraced life’s adventures, pouring his energy into his career, outdoor activities with his best buddy, Shadow, sports, and Boy Scouts with his son, Connor. He cherished his time with friends and family in the woods of Northern Louisiana. Known for his big personality and ever-present smile, Chad had a way of making everyone feel welcome, bringing laughter and light to every room he entered. His joy for life was infectious, leaving those around him happier simply for having shared his company. He remained active in his profession through the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and was known for his kindness, laughter, and the joy he brought to others.
Chad leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved son, Hayden Connor St. John (Kirstyn); his wife, Amy St. John; his mother, Diane Aylward; his father, Dennis Aylward (Cyndi); his brother, Gary St. John (Sherri); and his nieces and nephews—Kendall St. John, Hudson St. John, Jackson Graddy, and Jordan Williams. He is also remembered by countless friends, colleagues, and loved ones whose lives he touched.
Chad’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options.
