Carrol grew up on a farm in Apache, Oklahoma, where his natural talent for engineering became evident early on. Whether tinkering with trucks or tractors, he had a knack for understanding all things mechanical. A brilliant student, Carrol graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1963 in just three years, launching a decades-long career as an engineer at Texas Instruments.
Carrol’s dedication extended beyond his professional life. A proud and active member of Elks Lodge #2435, he was deeply civic-minded and passionate about giving back to his community. Always ready to take the lead when others hesitated, he lived the mantra, “If I don’t, who will?”
It was through the Lodge that he met his beloved wife, Teena Baylow, to whom he remained dedicated in love for the last 14 years.
A big man in both stature and presence, Carrol was known for his quick wit, captivating storytelling, and infectious laugh. His stories always ended with a deep smile that left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Kind and generous to a fault, he quietly lived by his principles, doing the right thing without seeking praise or recognition. His heart was pure and his intentions sincere.
Family was Carrol’s greatest treasure. He was the most “imperfectly perfect” dad and family man, cherishing his children-Crystal, Darlene, Jana, and Jason-and embracing the unique ways his family grew over the years. Though his loss leaves a heavy void, his spirit and that unforgettable smile will remain alive in our hearts forever.
A Message From Heaven
Perhaps you aren’t ready yet to have to say good-bye…
Perhaps you’ve thought of things you wish you’d said-well so have I.
For one thing, I’d have told you not to worry about me…
I’m with the Lord in Heaven now—you knew that’s where I’d be.
I’m sorry that you’re feeling sad, for I’m so happy now…
I’ve asked the Lord to ease the hurt and comfort you somehow.
It’s hard at the beginning, but I hope it helps to know
That I’ll be waiting here for you.
