Carolyn Joyce (Delhomme) Jackson

September 25, 1928 — December 16, 2025

Dallas, Texas

Carolyn Joyce (Delhomme) Jackson, age 97, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.

Born on September 25, 1928, in Houston, Texas to parents Carroll and Beatrice Delhomme, Carolyn was the younger sister to Dolores. Growing up, Carolyn developed a lifelong appreciation for family, community, and generosity along with an interest in business and investing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved father at his lumber yard and stockbroker’s office and visiting real estate clients with her grandfather. As a result, she approached life with strength and optimism, thoughtful grace, and a genuine interest in people—qualities that shaped both her personal relationships and professional pursuits.

After graduating from Lamar High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University with an emphasis on Architecture and English. While at Rice, she met her future husband and love of her life, John C. Jackson, Jr., and they were married in 1949.

Carolyn was a devoted wife and mother of two daughters. Her appreciation for family was vital as her husband, a chemical engineer for DuPont, was regularly asked to relocate throughout his career. Once their children were grown, Carolyn chose to pursue her interest in business, becoming a top real estate agent and property investor in Hendersonville, Tennessee. She took particular pride in helping individuals and families find not just houses, but homes.

In addition to her devotion to family, Carolyn excelled in many pursuits, including playing bridge, painting landscapes, sailing in regattas with husband John, fundraising for various groups, including Rice University, hybrid daylily showings, and investing.

Her intelligence, wit, sound counsel, and encouragement were deeply valued by those who knew her best. She will be remembered for her wisdom, generosity, boldness, creativity, sense of humor, gift for storytelling, and enduring zest for life.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Jackson, Jr., and her daughter, Joyce Ann Brooks. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Starnes, and son-in-law, Bill Starnes; her son-in-law, Don Brooks; her grandchildren, Jonathan Starnes, Jason Brooks and Jason’s spouse, Tanya; her great-grandchildren, Finch Starnes, Maddie Brooks, and Oliver Brooks; and her niece, Danielle Delhomme. All cherish Carolyn's memory and the example she set through a life well lived.
