Carol K Geisler

November 1, 1945 — January 28, 2024

Carol K Geisler was born November 1, 1945, in Racine, Wisconsin, and died January 28, 2024, in Fairview Texas.

Carol grew up hard in a blue-collar home. She credits her sister, Sharron, with taking the rap for most of her mischief. During those days, Carol played the violin and spent time with girlfriends whenever she was not otherwise grounded.

Carol was married three times but only admitted to two. She had one son by her first marriage, Todd, who was and remained the light of her life.

She went to work as a secretary when she was a teenage mother and moved with Todd and her first husband to Texas.  She kept working until she'd obtained her master's degree, became a licensed professional counselor, and established a practice specializing in the treatment of dissociative identity disorders; among the most difficult conditions to treat in her field.  This was a calling for which she proved to be exceptional.

In 2003, Carol retired with her husband, John Jacobs, to Costa Rica where she entertained friends, traveled extensively, and wrote a children's book, “Santa's Glasses”; before moving back to Texas with John in 2018.

Once back in Texas she took up full time grand mothering and kept at it until the day she died.

Carol read lots of books, and enjoyed arguing about everything, especially politics and women's rights. She loved TV, cooking, camping, laughing, card games, dogs, and children.

She was disciplined about dieting and exercise; living a happy healthy life until her body couldn't keep up with her spirit anymore.

Carol never had much use for death or dying but when her time came, she went gracefully albeit grudgingly and without a shred of anger or self-pity.  Instead, she was "grateful" (her word) for the life she had lived, her family, and the many friends she had made along the way..

Unimpressed by her own accomplishments, Carol was surprised by the entire “hubbub” -- calls, emails, cards, and visits -- surrounding her final days.

Of her time on earth, it could truly be said, "Carol K. Geisler lived here."

Carol is survived by her husband, John A. Jacobs; son Todd Henry Geisler; grandchildren Ali Geisler Cosper and Anthony Henry Geisler.
