Carmen Concepción Pardo de Ramírez

Carmen Concepción Pardo de Ramírez, a quien todos llamábamos con infinito cariño “Mayi”, partió de este mundo dejando un vacío imposible de llenar, pero también un legado inmenso de amor puro y servicio a los demás. Fue una mujer extraordinaria que siempre vivió para los suyos, atenta a su familia, a sus amigos y a cada persona que se cruzó en su camino.

Mayi siempre tuvo la convicción de que “la palabra enseña, pero el ejemplo arrastra” y ese es el testimonio de su vida. Fue una mujer de entrega absoluta, de alegría sincera y de vocación profunda. Como maestra, dedicó gran parte de su vida a enseñar en las zonas rurales de Colombia, allí donde pocos querían ir. Ella eligió esos lugares difíciles porque sabía que era donde más la necesitaban y marcó para siempre la vida de innumerables niños que, gracias a ella, pudieron acceder a la educación y soñar con un futuro mejor.

En el año 2.000, Mayi se mudó definitivamente a los Estados Unidos para acompañar a su hija y ayudar a su nieta Sandra a criar a sus amados bisnietos, Carlos y Paula. Disfrutó siempre de las cosas sencillas: un buen libro, la emoción de un partido de fútbol —especialmente cuando jugaba la selección Colombia—, la serenidad de la naturaleza y, cómo no, sus infaltables novelas.

Su legado vive en quienes la amaron. Le sobreviven sus hijos: Gladys González, Nelson Ramírez y Mirian Tabares; su recuerdo permanecerá eterno a través de sus ocho nietos: Freddy Garzón, Leo González, Sandra González, Giovanni Ramírez, Patricia Ramírez, María Margarita Miller, Camila Ramírez y Gabriela Ramírez, además de sus queridos bisnietos y tataranietos, de quienes fue una abuela profundamente orgullosa.

Un reencuentro en el cielo. Ahora, Mayi descansa en paz y celebra un reencuentro con sus padres, Margarita Rodríguez y Pedro Pardo; sus hermanos; su yerno Rafael; y tantos amigos entrañables que han estado esperando por ella con los brazos abiertos.

Aunque nuestras vidas nunca volverán a ser las mismas sin su presencia, su amor seguirá guiándonos por siempre y nos reconforta saber que finalmente descansa en paz, rodeada de luz, amor y ángeles que la cuidarán con la misma ternura con la que ella cuidó de todos nosotros.

Carmen Concepción Pardo de Ramírez, whom we all affectionately called “Mayi,” left this world leaving behind an unfillable void, but also an immense legacy of pure love and service to others. She was an extraordinary woman who always lived for her loved ones, attentive to her family, her friends, and every person who crossed her path.

Mayi always believed that “words teach, but examples inspire,” and that is the testimony of her life. She was a woman of absolute dedication, sincere joy, and deep vocation. As a teacher, she devoted much of her life to teaching in rural areas of Colombia, where few wanted to go. She chose these difficult places because she knew that was where she was most needed, and she forever touched the lives of countless children who, thanks to her, were able to access education and dream of a better future.

In 2000, Mayi moved permanently to the United States to be with her daughter and help her granddaughter Sandra raise her beloved great-grandchildren, Carlos and Paula. She always enjoyed the simple things in life: a good book, the excitement of a soccer game—especially when the Colombian national team was playing the serenity of nature, and, of course, her ever-present novels.

Her legacy lives on in those who loved her. She is survived by her children: Gladys González, Nelson Ramírez, and Mirian Tabares. Her memory will live on forever through her eight grandchildren: Freddy Garzón, Leo González, Sandra González, Giovanni Ramírez, Patricia Ramírez, María Margarita Miller, Camila Ramírez, and Gabriela Ramírez, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, of whom she was a deeply proud grandmother.

A Heavenly Reunion Now, Mayi rests in peace and celebrates a reunion with her parents, Margarita Rodríguez and Pedro Pardo; her siblings; her son-in-law Rafael; and so many dear friends who have been waiting for her with open arms.

Although our lives will never be the same without her presence, her love will continue to guide us forever, and we take comfort in knowing that she is finally resting in peace, surrounded by light, love, and angels who will care for her with the same tenderness with which she cared for all of us.
