Brent passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 9, 2024. He was a dedicated husband to Britt and treasured his three children, Kinsler, Katie and Lucas. He embraced every precious moment with them. He was an outstanding father, son and friend to many. Brent will be dearly missed and will be forever in our hearts. The world was a better place when he was in it.
He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1995 and served in the United States Air Force for five years. He was a proud American and was happy to serve his country. He graduated from UTA in Arlington.
He was born to the proud parents of Kathy and Jerry Collins on September 24, 1976, in Breckenridge, Texas.
Brent’s mom and dad shared the following: “Brent was a delight for us since the day he was born. He was inquisitive, bright and funny. He never met a stranger and had a wit about him that made everyone around him laugh and feel comfortable. No one could ask for a better son. He was loved by everyone he met."
Brent worked in Corporate Tax and his employers included Ryan, Inc., McKesson, Essilor, and Toyota. Brent cared about his teammates like family members. He created bonds with those he worked with and will be missed by all who got to spend time with him. As he moved into management, he worked to become the kind of leader he always wanted to have. He proudly supported his team and invested his time and energy into always supporting those around him.
Brent always loved video games and was a gamer at heart. He shared his love for games with all of his 3 children and they would often “squad up” as a family and play together. He enjoyed playing video games with the kids and their friends and was genuinely a kid-at-heart. His kids loved that their dad was the “cool dad” that had fun playing games with them and their friends. Brent also loved watching Katie and Lucas perform on stage and would always tell people around him which actors were his kids. He would so proudly share all the amazing comments he would hear from others who also enjoyed watching his kids perform. When he was asked to snore in the audience as a part of one show, he joked afterwards that he did such a great job he just knew they would be adding a new category to the annual awards for “Best Audience Parent Participation” so he could win an award too.
Brent created many traditions with his family. He shared his love of sitting around a campfire, riding horses on a family trail ride, enjoying most anything he prepared on the grill and having a good laugh over great stories he would share when spending time together. He looked forward to the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance and would surprise Katie every year with red roses and an incredible night out they both would cherish. In the summertime he would start thinking about what the kids would love to receive for Christmas and would start a list of gift ideas because he would smile just thinking about the smiles, he knew the gifts would bring to the faces. He loved his kids more than anything.
He also shared his deep love for all things fun. He loved baseball. He loved Fantasy Football. He loved Star Wars most of all. He loved dressing up at Halloween. Some of the words his kids use to describe him are funny, smart, thoughtful, charismatic, amazing, joking, cuddly, sweet and kind. He gave us all a lifetime of love and laughs in the short time he was here. We will love him and miss him forever.
Brent is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Britt Collins; children Kinsler, Katie and Lucas Collins; parents Jerry and Kathy Collins. He was preceded in death by his precious sister, Kristi Kay Collins on January 9, 1990.
